Yeah, what a waste of a season it would be to get Harrison, Exum, Randle, Parker, Gordon, or Selden :cookie:

we don't need them. they'd just be benched behind our superstar demar, the next kobe, once he comes out with his 50% 3pt shot this season

Don't forget robogay and his new heat sensing vision which makes him shoot 75% from the field. He will also play all 5 positions because he's put on 35 lbs of pure muscle and is still fast enough to guard anyone.

I'm on team anti-treadmill. If this core proves it can be a contender without tanking, or if Masai somehow does a trade to make it one, I will be much more happy than if we tank. Unfortunately thats not happening

Still have the chance to in theory. You're acting like the season has ended/it's a guarantee that the raps make the playoffs.

Well said.

Wiggins is going to get drafted by some shit team, get fed up and decide Toronto looks better than taking the biggest contract available. I mean we have Drake right?

I love the irony of a dude named LET'S GO RAPTORS!!!!!!!!!!!! wanting to so badly, and obsessively, for the Raptors to fail.

Oh, I know, it's just to get that magical draft pick that will ensure that they contend almost forever. That's the spirit baby!!!!!!
LET GO OF ANY HOPE OF WINNING JUST YET!!!!!!
LET'S NOT GO ANYWHERE JUST YET, OR AS LONG AS THERE IS A DRAFT THAT PROMISES MORE HYPE THAN ANY OF US CAN FATHOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But don't you want to see Jeff eating his shoes?

I don't get what you're trying to say in the first part of your post. Who here is debating that wiggins will decide to jump ship if he's not drafted by us? What some prefer is to get rid of the parts of this core that don't fit, build a new direction for this team, and rebuild through the draft. Being 9th-11th hasn't got us very far the last 5 years, has it? The only player on this team that everybody can agree should not be dealt (barring a trade you can't say no to, obviously) was drafted 5th, which I believe is the highest out of anyone on the roster? Like I said before, and let's go raps agreed with me here so I think I speak for us both, if we can contend without tanking, it would be amazing, but I fail to see a scenario where this core becomes a contender.

But no, demar and rudy are vc and t-mac v2, JV is Tim Duncan but with a cooler last name, and we will score some epic talent with the 30th pick right?
LET'S GO MEDIOCRITY!!!!!
CAP SPACE IS FOR PUNY MORTALS, MASAI THE GOD NEEDS NO SUCH THING.

If you're saying we need to get a core solely through top 5 draft picks (and of course the quality of the draft years will need to cooperate) then you are going to be waiting for another 18 years. Nice to bring up Vince and Tracey. No mediocrity resulted from that now did it? And they had two top 5 picks come before them. How did that turn out?

Seriously. There are ways to build a core that succeeds without high and hyped picks. Masai took a huge step towards that simply by getting rid of a number one pick. Here's an idea - how about hoping for the best while Jonas develops, then building upon that with good trades, smart draft picks, and developing what talent emerges here within a stronger culture and system. I want to hear a sarcastic response to that, and then follow it up with a big loud, LET'S GO RAPTOR'S!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1111!!!!!

I will laugh, because it's pretty funny.

This team can do better than 9-11, and eventually contend. With or without the magic that one player alone can bring. Building the right foundation over time is more important and more effective over the long term than trusting in magical thinking for instant success.

No actually I don't want the raptors to fail, I want the raptors to succeed. I just don't think the current core is good enough to win it all one day, go to the finals or even go to the conference finals. Money (ie. current salaries and salary for next year) is also an issue right now with the squad and two key players and contracts which need to be resolved soon - KL and RG. I want to see a championship squad or at least contender out there on the court one day. I don't want to see playoffs or just winning 1 round as the ceiling to my fav basketball team. We both want the team to succeed but we prefer different paths and we prefer different levels of success. Other teams will get rid of unwanted contracts and look to actively acquire assets in preparation for apparently the best draft in years. Boston is already doing this. That's how they were able to get that championship there - through asset collection. Other teams are preparing. In 2007 the raps won a division title for the first time and got 3rd in a brutally weak EC. A pretty fair amount of teams regrouped and did well in the summer in the draft and trades while the raps remained stagnant for the most part.
