Spurs Why is no one really talking about the Spurs?

Looking at how well they've done all year long and how efficient they've been.

Just read this article that really gives some more light on them.

Quote:
More specifically, the Spurs have fielded exactly one starting lineup all season, the only team able to make such a claim. Given the myriad of injuries that have alternately plagued Parker, Ginobili, and Duncan over the past several seasons, the Spurs hardly would have topped the list of prime suspects for the last lineup standing yet thatís been the case 47 games into the season while their competition has either struggled with injuries, ineffectiveness, or both.

Then thereís the eye-popping productivity. Entering Saturday, the Spursí starters have accounted for exactly two-thirds of the teamís points, 65% of its rebounds, and 75% of its assists.

All of that comes in a relatively-low 61% of the teamís minutes; not only are they proficient, theyíre exceedingly efficient as well.

Thatís a byproduct of continuity, sure, but also indicative of smart roster construction.

Name a desired quality and chances are that multiple Spurs starters possess it, whether itís perimeter scoring or slashing (Parker, Ginobili, Jefferson); playmaking (Parker and Ginobili); three-point shooting (Ginobili and Jefferson); rebounding, post offense, and post defense (Duncan and Blair); or sheer athleticism (take your pick of Parker, Ginobili, Jefferson, or Blair).

What makes them so tough to beat, then, is that thereís no way to take that lineup out of their element. They turn the game into a layup line or they can slow down the tempo, grind out possessions, and let Duncan and Blair clean up the glass, and are equally capable playing slash-and-kick or plotting a direct assault on the rim.
Fab Five: Spurs' starters shine once again

They're my odds on favourite to come out of the West unless the Lakers get a shot in the arm via trade.

Duncan is avging career lows in every category, yet they're playing better than they ever have before (arguably).

As long as they're healthy come playoff time they'll be TOUGH to beat in 7 games.

the lakers will figure their shit out come april, i think it's a toss up between the lakers and the spurs. could come down to home court advantage.

The Spurs have been one of my favourite teams for a few years now, and it doesnt seem like there's ever any hype about them. Now i really only watch games, no interviews or anything like that, but it seems like non of there core players are big talkers, and they don't play a flashy game like many other big teams, they kinda go ignored every season

Small market team, they also get pegged as boring and cerebral. I for one was a little surprised Manu didn't get any consideration as starting sg for the west. There is not peep for him as a MVP candidate.

I haven't given them much of a chance this year, in terms of contending. But now that the Lakers seem to be faltering...

health.
that is what it will come down to this season for the spurs.
if they can stay healthy, they will win the title.
theres no team in the league that can beat a healthy spurs team in a 7 game series.
they are too well coached and too all-around to lose 4 games out of 7... not to mention they have fantastic home court advantage.

West looks very interesting. If NBA season ends today, playoff matchups would be

SAS-POR
LAL-DEN
DAL-UTAH
OKC-NOH

While the East, meh...
Only CHI-NYK looks interesting to me.

Over Kobe? I seriously doubt that.

As a Spurs fan I believe that Boston can have there way with Spurs no problem. If SA can get there defense level up to past levels then I'd say they are untouchable but thats not the case as of right now.

The Spurs are one of the top 5 teams to watch entertainment wise right now.

My top 5 would be: BOS, CHI, LAC(when Gordon plays), SAS, MIA.

I do question SAS' size and defence come playoff time though. Especially vs LAL.

As a Jazz fan I wish but it's not going to happen. Bench isn't good enough and they need a guy off the wing who can score.
