Default Who's taking MVP?

TBH I think Derrick Rose is taking it this year. His teams winning, his game improved a bunch since last year. Thoughts?

When I heard Rose saying that he should be MVP early in the season, I didn't take him seriously. I doubt many of us did, but he has proved to me and the world that he is one of the most talented players in this league and deserves to win the award.

Rose, with a slight chance for LeBron winning.

Rose no question. Althought i have to admit, lebron joinin the heat pretty much ruined his chances for a 3-peat MVP title, but if he was with the cavs, LeBron would have taken it.

It's tough, when I think about the MVP award I feel like it should go to the player whose team would have performed the worst without said player. And when I think about it like that it seems like Dwight should be the favourite given the numbers he puts up, his improved offense and hunger for winning, the kind of pounding he gets night in, night out, and the fact that if you remove Rose and Dwight from their respective teams, the Magic come out a lot worse.

i don't disagree with you but the magic are fourth in the east and the bulls just moved into first. without looking at the history behind the award i wouldn't hesitate to say the award rarely, if ever, goes to a player on a team lower than third place.

IMO it's rose, no questions asked.

Rose...
best team in the east (currently), best player on his team hands down.
doesnt play on a team filled with stars, just gets the job done, and is the leader of a fantastic team.

To be honest I'm sort of sick of how much coverage they give to this stuff; they hype up certain candidates to the point that I feel like it skews the results. I'd rather just let the voters vote and see who comes out on top.

2008 draft was rigged... Rigged I say!

How could Chicago, that coming into the lottery was projected to go 14th, end up with the number 1 pick and Derrick Rose, who...*gasp* is also from Chicago.

Blasphemy!

I believe they were 9th... Still, only 1.7% chance to win it.
But is it shocking? This is NBA, draft lottery happens behind closed doors... No heart, "NBA is just a business", Stern always looking how to make more $.

Last time I looked at the MVP race standings Nowitzki was 5th behind Rose, Durant, Lebron, Howard.

If Lebron stayed in Cleveland he'd win every MVP until he retires.

i m not saying its steve nash, but man he really is their whole team. Last week he sat out 2 games with an injury and the suns completely sucked. The offense looked stagnant and boring and they obviously lost. I looked at the stats and the suns are ridiculously bad when nash is out, but whatever he is back tonight vs the hornets.
