Who watches the WNBA?

Just a question. Do anyone of you watch the WNBA? If yes, what team?

jeffb 05-16-2010 10:34 PM

Nope, i've never watched more then a few minutes of any WNBA game.

thought 05-16-2010 10:36 PM

I'll watch it if I lose the remote. I find it can be pretty hit or miss, sometimes it's good basketball and other times it can be a complete cluster-fuck.

Gurk 05-16-2010 10:39 PM

It sucks. I have never watched it

try drawing conclusions after watching or experiencing things...

i watched it during the first couple of seasons. not a fan, but not an ignorant asshole.

Dark Knight 05-16-2010 10:56 PM

Apparently Marion Jones is playing for the Tulsa Shock, and apparently the Shock moved from Detroit to Tulsa, and apparently I need a life. :sigh:

edki 05-16-2010 10:59 PM

the basket is too dam high, the ball is too dam big and the court is too dam long...

Like I watched it but not like avidly. It was just like flipped the channel, said WOW this is boring aftera minute and sopped watching it

VanCity 05-17-2010 12:36 AM

the games are a joke ...i might watch it more often if the chicks were hot, but frankly, they scare me a little bit....so no...i dont watch it....

krillog 05-17-2010 12:53 AM

Its terrible but that is the way the world works because people or so driven by gender norms. If you ask someone whether they would watch the WNBA or NBA finals, the overwhelming majority (including women) are going to want to see the NBA... or even the D-League finals for that matter.

Big time. Males, especially male blacks, have been genetically selected for feats of physical strength and bodily coordination. Usually the most gifted female athlete in grade school cannot beat the most clumsy male in her grade, provided both have put in the same amount of practice. This is because women have been genetically selected for other traits oriented around things like fine hand motor coordination, care-giving and nurturing, emotional navigation, and physical beauty.

We are driven by gender norms, because the fact of gender differences is right there before our eyes, and each genders specialization is there to exploit different things.

the chicks who slaughtered my men's rec league hockey team the other day will beg to differ. lol

but wrt to the wnba's watchability.... it all comes down to having a rooting interest. there are very very few sporting events that i can stand to watch for more than a minute or two if i have no care as to who wins. that goes for nba, nhl, nfl and everything else.

I said "usually" and also added the caveat: had equal amounts of practice.

oh so you have watched it. that's a bit different from 'never watched it' as you stated 21 minutes earlier.
Gurk strikes again.

still a complete crock of shit.

the best female athlete routinely whoops the most clumsy male given equal amounts of practice. routinely. especially if we're talking athletics in general, and not just basketball.

Acie 05-17-2010 10:37 AM

I like it.

They play really hard.

AR1815 05-17-2010 11:15 AM

I don't watch it. I don't know why, really.

I do find it kinda sad that the WNBA slogan this season is 'Basketball is Basketball.' Really? That's the best they can come up with?

I guess it was either that, or the longer version: "You watch the NBA. That's basketball. So why don't you watch us in the WNBA? We're basketball, too. Just plain basketball. not Basketball's Little Sister, or Basketball's Homely Girlfriend. We're BASKETBALL. Watch us."
