I don't think he's ever been a "franchise" player though.

Derek Fischer is a hero and future HOFer as well. He is what Chris Paul wants to be. Being a franchise player doesn't mean a whole lot except in the bank account.

If this is going off of let's say the last two seasons averages then these are the only 'franchise players' imho:

Dwight Howard
LeBron James
Dwyane Wade
Kevin Durant
Derrick Rose
Dirk Nowitzki
Kobe Bryant
Chris Paul
Blake Griffin
Kevin Love

My criteria is a mix of stats and intagibles (particularly experience for the older guys on the list and potential for the younger ones, as well as leadership qualities) with a particular focus on whether or not a player can be the primary player for a team on one end of the floor or the other or they generally have stellar all around stats without a single glaring flaw on one particular end.

Why do you think Fisher is a future HOFer? I don't think he has a chance. Sure, he has five rings, but Robert Horry has seven and no one would think he deserves to be elected into the HOF. However, while they were fortunate to play for some excellent teams, they were role players, not key players that carried their teams to championships.

Fisher is a good player, but he does not have a single great skill or an individual accomplishment to be consider HOF worthy. Players that average 8.8 ppg, shoot 40% from the field, average 3.1 assists per game, and have 0 All-Star appearances do not belong in the HOF.

Dennis Rodman is the only HOFer with an extremely low career PPG average, but he's considered to be one of the greatest defensive and rebounding PFs in the history of the game. And Derek Fisher is known as???
