Pistons What the hell is going on in Detroit?

Quote:
Pistons forwards Charlie Villanueva and Austin Daye used their Twitter pages to vent their frustrations on Monday.

However, neither will reveal exactly what they were upset about.

"This has been a very frustrating year," Villanueva posted late Monday afternoon. "It just only got worse today. I have never experienced, in my five years, what I have experienced this year."

Later, he posted: "Let's put it like this: I'd rather not say anything because I don't want to get fined," and later, "I respect Joe Dumars so much that I will keep my mouth shut. Just needed to vent a little."

Daye, a rookie, made these posts:

"Everyone, I'm twisted (mad) right now, but when I'm in L.A., I'm going to work myself to death to try and get myself right for next year."

"Something happened to me today that won't ever happen again and I'm just venting right now, but I'm twisted mad and going to be ready for our game."

I feel bad for Charlie... I've always felt that he could have been a very good player in the right situation.

I don't know what the hell Dumars is doing down there in DET.... he went from being arguably the league's best GM to maybe one of the worst.

Very inconsistent player. Another player who's work ethic is often questioned.

Coach had to have said something that got them pretty fired up. Maybe they got thrown under the bus.

So much talent, but so extremely lazy.

No but he plays almost 10 minutes less and gets more boards, shoots a better %, and is averaging the same PPG. Add to that his contract is one year shorter and he's 6 years younger. I'm no fan of his, but i'd take him over Hedo at this point.

rebuilding process is going to be slow and painful for detroit fans, and iverson for billups was a bad start

i didn't mind the iverson for billups move. it was a sign that they were rebuilding and they were shedding cap space. what made it so incredibly atrocious was using that space to sign gordon and cv. that was the killer mistake right there.

at least the Raptors are still in position to compete for the championship........wow unbelievable. Call us a dissapointment when we're eliminated, but not when we're fighting for the playoffs and going to try to make noise in the playoffs.

I understand it's a disappointment because we're not in 5th, and our record is not that good, but it's not over! I still believe in them.

Dumars made bad moves by signing CV and Ben. It all started when he traded away Billups. Ever since then he has been making bad move after another

The Villeneuva signing was pretty crappy. That money should have been allocated towards finding a more legitimate inside player. The Gordon signing doesn't look quite as shitty when you consider that, prior to this season, Gordon always shot above 40% from 3 point range. And he did so on a high volume of shots, which is indicative of his ability to sustain his offensive production over the course of a season. He used to be instant offense. He's averaged more than 20 ppg for the season more than once. If he gets back to full health, he'll probably regain most of his game.

Before this season began, I didn't think Detroit would do all that well. They lack an inside presence. I figured they'd probably be a 35-38 win team in the poor eastern conference. And if they'd remained healthy, I think they could have won an extra 10 or 12 games. For most of the season, at any given moment, the Pistons have been missing 2 or 3 of their rotation players.

Stuckey 7 games missed.
Hamilton 33 games missed
Gordon 19 games missed
Prince 33 games
Bynum 19 games
Wallace 13

If they remain healthy next season, I think the Pistons could be one of the most improved teams in terms of record. There are some talented players on the Pistons roster. Dumars has some flexibility to make moves. Furthermore, Detroit may end up with a top 5 pick in this years draft. At the very least, their pick should end up being top 8. That could be a valuable trading chip for a sign and trade deal that lands the Pistons a really solid free agent. That pick could be packaged with Rip or Gordon to bring in something decent. Or they could keep the pick and draft another piece. Dumars is much better at finding talent outside of the lottery, though. He does pretty well with late 1st rounders. If I were a Pistons fan, I'm not sure I'd trust him with a top 5 pick...haha

Anyways, I'm interested to see if Dumars will be dealing over the summer, or whether he'll keep things as they are and wait to see what a healthy lineup can do. A number of teams should be looking to trade with Detroit.
