Default Westbrook will undergo knee surgery, per David Aldridge

David Aldridge ✔ @daldridgetnt

Holy...Thunder announces Russell Westbrook will undergo surgery in the coming days to repair a lateral meniscus tear in right knee. No joke.

David Aldridge ✔ @daldridgetnt

Will obviously depend on grade of tear before anyone can say how long W'Brook will be out/if he can come back for later rounds of playoffs.

Another star down. Way too many injuries every season.

On the bright side, this is good for my fellow Heat haters, since SAS/LAC will have a much better shot in the Finals than OKC.

I put a wager down that it would be SAS/Heat in the finals at the start of the year. I'm a spurs fan since Robinson days...Though I hate it for Russell, I didn't think OKC would get out of the West anyways.

Russell Westbrook will undergo surgery on his right knee for a lateral meniscus tear.

No timetable for his return has been announced.

Westbrook suffered the injury in the second quarter of Game 2.

Westbrook had never missed a game in his NBA career.

"Maybe," said one source to Yahoo's Adrian Wojnarowski when asked if Westbrook could return in the playoffs.
Isn't that extremely unlikely?? I don't think the team will go far without him. Bet they wished they had traded for JC now Although they do have Fisher....

Artest came back in just under 2 weeks from this...

I dont think this seals the fate of OKC. They still have the best scorer in the world, Serge Ibaka (has become better offensivley since last season) and Martin who is good for 20+ every night.

i'm interested to see how durant plays with the full attention of the defense on him. westbrook hasn't been out...at all...during durant's career.

Does anyone here believe Beverly made a dirty play? Seems to be all over ESPN today, likened it to hockey and someone deliberately going knee on knee.

Just curious what others thought. According to Beverly he was just making a play on the ball (knowing that he had zero chance at success) - I think that's exactly what Bowen used to say...

And just like that, the west opens up. I'm not much of a fan of Russ, but he's a such a integral cog for them. If Durant is able to carry them out of the west, I will immensely impressed. Heck, it's the playoffs, DFish will carry them.

I can't imagine Beverly consciously aiming to injure RW. Maybe he was just trying to steal the ball - albeit in futility - to get in his opponent's head, like players blocking shots after the whistle? Either that or McHale brainwashed him.

That's exactly what i thought about as well. I started writing about blocks after the whistle, KG, 2008 Celtics, setting the tone, and then I saw your post.

i think Beverley just tries to play hard all the time. he knows that's what got him into the league and will probably allow him to stick.

Anyone who thinks that was a dirty play by Beverley is a fucking idiot.

OKC got a team, but without Westbrook, they won't get something else.

I wasn't sure, thanks.

Too bad though, it's offical he's out for all the playoffs - no MWP miracle healing. Good for my Spurs though.
