Default WC PLAYOFFS; ROUND 1: (3) PHX SUNS defeat the (6) POR BLAZERS 4-2

STARTERS:

PHX

Steve Nash
Jason Richardson
Grant Hill
Amare Stoudemire
Jarron Collins

POR

Andre Miller
Rudy Fernandez
Nicolas Batum
LaMarcus Aldridge
Marcus Camby

KEY ROTATION PLAYERS:

PHX

Goran Dragic
Leandro Barbosa
Jared Dudley
Channing Frye

POR

Jerryd Bayless
Martell Webster
Juwan Howard

Key Matchups:

PORs halfcourt scoring. PHXs defence has improved so much that with Roy out it IS actually going to be a lot tougher for them to get points because PHX packs the paint a lot better than they did even a year ago. Fernandez Webster and Batum are gonna have to light it up from the outside for them to have a shot, or LaMarcus and Miller are gonna have to combine for 55+ every game.

The benches. PHXs bench has been very good recently, and again with Roy out and PORs starting 5 possibly struggling to score, Bayless and Webster are gonna have to provide a bigtime spark. Everyone has to bring their A game.

Amare Stoudemire vs the frontcourt. If Amare gets LA or Camby in foul trouble, its gonna be all downhill from there with PORs limited depth in the frontcourt. Howard guarding Amare is recipe for a bunch of facials.

PREDICTION:

If Roy doesnt come back for the series, PHX in 5, if he does, PHX in 7.

Without Roy, I can't see the Blazers prevailing. Suns in 6 (although I wouldn't be surprised if it's done in 5)

Goodbye Portland!!

Quote:
Portland Trail Blazers guard Brandon Roy will undergo surgery on Friday to repair a partial meniscus tear in right knee, it was announced today by Trail Blazers General Manager Kevin Pritchard. “This was not an easy decision to make,” said Roy. “But, if I’m going to be out there, I want to be contributing. If we’re fortunate enough to advance in the playoffs, having the surgery now gives me the best opportunity to help our team.” Dr. Don Roberts will perform the knee arthroscopy on Friday morning at Southwest Washington Medical Center in Vancouver, WA. A timetable for Roy’s return will be set following surgery, but he’ll be sidelined for at least the first round series vs. the Phoenix Suns. “This is a setback, but we’ve been overcoming injuries all season long,” said Pritchard. “This is about looking long-term and doing what’s best for Brandon.”

I was either very tired or am incredibly stupid but, for the longest time, I was looking at the "WC" at the beginning of the title and wondering what the hell "WC" stood for. *sigh*

Depending where you live, it can stand for "water closet" as well

Anyway, Phoenix is on a roll and definitely going to the 2nd round and could surprise more than one team

I just want to see Phoenix get exposed by this Roy-less Blazer team.

I hate the damn Suns.

Ande Miller is a boss. If Portland had a healthy Oden, Pryzbilla and Roy this year theyd come damn close to winning the title.

I can't even talk about Miller anymore.

It seems like he keeps getting better every new team he goes too. Guy just seems so confident in his game this year, it's wicked to watch.

It astounds me what Portland has accomplished this season with all the injuries, in the west no less. Alot of this comes down to coaching, can you imagine Jay Triano coaching under those conditions? They'll still lose this series, but good on them for winning game one in Pheonix.
