Default WC PLAYOFFS RD 2 OKC wins: (4) OKC THUNDER•4• vs (8) MEM GRIZZLIES•3•

STARTERS:

OKC

Russell Westbrook
Thabo Sefolosha
Kevin Durant
Serge Ibaka
Kendrick Perkins

MEM

Mike Conley
Tony Allen
Sam Young
Zach Randolph
Marc Gasol

KEY ROTATION PLAYERS:

OKC

Eric Maynor
James Harden
Daequan Cook
Nick Collison
Nazr Mohammed

MEM

Greivas Vasquez
OJ Mayo
Shane Battier
Darrell Arthur

Key Matchups:

Kevin Durant/Russell Westbrook vs multiple MEM defenders- I expect Tony Allen and Sam Young to be matched up on the OKC stars to start the game as I dont think Conley is strong enough to stay with Westbrook. As the game goes on, I expect Battier to spend a lot of time on KD, and Allen on Westbrook. I think if Allen defends KD for a long stretch of time, it's going to go one of two ways, which is its going to get MEM into a crazy amount of foul trouble with Allen known to bite on fakes and be ultra aggressive, or he'll completely take KD out of his game much like Artest did last year.

The frontcourts- 2 of the biggest frontcourts in the NBA going at it, and its a huge contrast in styles. Ibaka/Perkins will be expected to defend, and MEM's frontcourt will be expected to score. I think Randolph may take Ibaka out of this series for many of the games due to foul trouble, so Mohammed should play a much bigger role in this series.

The paint battle- This is the most important factor in the series. I know it's not exactly a matchup, but whoever wins the battle will win the series. Both teams live in the paint, and both teams defend the paint very well. OKC thrives off of driving hard to the basket, and drawing fouls, but as we saw in round 1, Ginobili and Parker had a really tough time in consistantly getting straight to the rim due to MEM's help on the perimeter and then length inside if you get past the perimeter D. MEM needs to win this battle by getting OKCs starting bigs in to foul trouble, and OKC needs to win this battle with quicker ball movement and their superstars getting good picks to get to the rim.

PREDICTION:

OKC in 6. This is a really tough series to predict because MEM is such a wildcard, but I think KD will win his matchup decisively and that will be the difference. I can really see this series going either way though as MEM doesnt have any big weaknesses, whereas OKC goes in to hog/jump shot mode a little too often sometimes.

OKC in 6. Perkins will play good D on Gasol and Randolph that SAS wasn't able to IMO

while that may be the case, you could also argue that ibaka and perkins don't pose as offensive threats to gasol and randolph, and i also feel that allen and battier could do an effective job pestering kd and westbrook. that's just my opinion.

OKC in 6 for me as well... although I wouldn't be surprised at all if it went 7.

Yup I gotta go with OKC in 6, although MEM will put up a good fight. I can see Z-Bo and Gasol eating up Ibaka and Perk despite them being good low post defenders

OKC in 6-7 but I wouldnt be surprised if Memphis takes this series. They ebat one of the best teams in the NBA in 6 games. If Zach Randolph plays like he did late in game 6, Memphis just might pull of another upset. It's crazy how well memphis is playing without rudy gay.

This one is going to tight. OKC in 7. It is going to be so much more difficult Z-Bo and Gasol to take advantage. Predictions: Ibaka will take a big step into the spot light. Perkins and Gasol (depending on if Marc resigns) Start a good career rivalry, I think these two are going get pretty chippy.

Memphis in 6. They seem to have the maturity and they have made a habit of playing defense.

Vancouver vs. Seattle! Battle for Northwest supremecy... oh wait. Anyway, Go Grizz! While friends sport Canuck playoff beards, my facial hair proudly represents the overweight drug kingpins and poker playing brawlers that make up the Grizz. However, if I were a betting man, I'd choose OKC in 6. Perk and Ibaka may prove too difficult a task for the Memphis front court.

Ibaka averaged 4.8 blocks along with a double-double in the first round. This matched up with Perk's ability to defend the post will cause a great threat to the offensive abilities of Gasol and Randolph. OKC in 6.
