Default WC PLAYOFFS: RD 2: DALLAS WINS (2) LA LAKERS - 0 VS (3) DAL MAVERICKS - 4

STARTERS:

LAL

Derek Fisher
Kobe Bryant
Ron Artest
Pau Gasoft
Andrew Bynum

DAL

Jason Kidd
DeShawn Stevenson
Shawn Marion
Dirk Nowitzki
Tyson Chandler

KEY ROTATION PLAYERS:

LAL

Steve Blake
Shannon Brown
Matt Barnes
Lamar Odom

DAL

JJ Barea
Jason Terry
Peja Stojakovic
Brendan Haywood

Key Matchups:

Tyson Chandler vs Andrew Bynum- I think this is the biggest matchup of the series. Bynum ate the Hornets frontcourt alive, especially on the offensive boards. Chandler has been one of the better defensive centers in the NBA this year, but hes undersized vs Bynum in terms of bulk. Chandler has to keep Bynum off the offensive glass and keep from getting deep post position for the Mavs to have any chance this series. That or Brendan Haywood wake from the dead and actually consistantly play well, as hes the better matchup size wise vs Bynum.

Kobe vs Stevenson/Marion/Kidd - A very intriguing matchup, especially with Marion vs Kobe as Marion had some success vs Kobe recently(and Kidd in the past). I think if Marion can frustrate Kobe and force him to be mr 20+ shots per game DAL will make this a very long series. I think Kidd will play stretches on him as well. I think with DAL having this many guys to throw at Kobe to slow him down is something that may be overlooked in the grand scheme of things.

Dirk vs LAs 3 bigs- Theyre not going to stop Dirk obviously, but Jackson is going to have to come up with different defensive schemes to slow him down or else he could get 2 of their 3 bigs in a lot of foul trouble. Pau could help with the slowing down of Dirk by stop being a pansy, and actually scoring some points on the other end this series.

Benches- DAL has to speed the tempo of the game up when their bench comes in, and they need to win this matchup decisively.

PREDICTION:

LAL in 7. I think DAL matches up with them fairly well as long as they dont go back to being the soft team we've seen at times recently in April. DAL needs to play extremely hard and tough especially in the paint and vs Kobe to make this a long series, but again, like the MIA/BOS series, it's hard to pick against LA in this matchup as theres too many past resutls saying LA is going to win. But this should definately not be a cakewalk given the matchups.

Dallas in 6. LA loses this one unless the refs win it for them. We'll have to see how many fouls Chandler and Haywood get in the first halves of games.

Yeah LA is just the best when they're healthy. Even with Kobe and Bynum not at 100%, they're a very tough team to stop.

Dallas is just going to have to play like this is the biggest playoff series in its history.

Nice analysis. I hope you're right about this going 7. Regardless of who wins, I just want this to be epic. This might be the only time Kobe and Dirk ever face each other in the playoffs.

+1 to Gizz! Go Dallas!

Edit - Oh, and Dallas in 6 or 7 if they take one of the first 2 games.

I don't get how the 2 and 3 seed play and the 4 and 8 play... isnt it supposed to go highest vs lowest? Damnit I wanted to see 2 upsets and OKC vs MEM in the conference final

It's based on brackets - not records

I say Dallas in 6. I can't stand to think of even a game 7, let alone the purple and gold not losing.

Just what the doctor ordered for Kobe and company. Sure, the Mavs are a little tougher with the addition of Chandler, but they'll still find a way to "out soft" the opposition like they usually do. Lakers in 5.

I said LAL in six because I'm afraid if they don't put the dagger in them in Dallas, game 7 really could go either way.

I don't want either team to win, is there any way they could both lose on a technicality of some sort? Either way if I have to pick one, I say Dallas in 6. If it's the same Lakers team that played the Hornets I don't see Dallas having too much trouble.

Strongly doubt that. Lakers always play down to their opponents and always show up against the big teams. No way in hell Dallas beats Lakers in a 7 game series. Absolutely no shot.

I'm praying that I'm wrong (REALLY HARD) but I think that it'll be the Lakers in 6.

DAL needs to win game 1 or the series is over. Jackson has some crazy 43-0 record when winning game 1.
