Wallace in drunk driving, weapons arrest

Quote:

Police have charged Detroit Piston Ben Wallace, a four-time NBA defensive player of the year, with drunk driving and unlawful handgun possession after stopping him early Saturday for erratic driving northwest of Detroit.

Wallace, 37, who lives in Bloomfield Hills, was stopped at about 3 a.m. Saturday local time and arrested without incident, Bloomfield Township Police said in a statement on Thursday.

"The roadside investigation revealed that Mr. Wallace was operating his motor vehicle while intoxicated," the statement said.

Police said they recovered an unloaded pistol from a backpack in the passenger compartment during a search of the 2007 Cadillac Escalade SUV Wallace was driving. The charge of unlawful carrying of a concealed weapon is a five-year felony.

Jesus.

If these idiots wanna carry guns, I'm pretty sure there is a legal way to do it in the US isn't there??

WTF is wrong with these guys. Honestly.

Blaze 09-29-2011 10:38 PM

Wtf is the point of carrying an unloaded gun, that's my question. What are you going to do if someone is trying to rob you throw the gun at them?

no one is going to rob big ben, he carries the unloaded gun to look even more menacing than he already is, patrolling the street of detroit keeping law and order

There's only one Wallace currently playing for the Pistons.

Superjudge 09-30-2011 10:35 AM

bring a rock to a fight, you might get hit with a rock.

Bring a gun, you likely get shot.

Guns don't deter other gunmen from firing, they prompt them to.

Honestly, I've never understood the mentality when it comes to americans and their obsession with guns.

Which is why I don't get why anyone would think it was Rasheed Wallace with a Piston's logo staring at us.

I was being sarcastic.

How many people remember Sheed's one awful season in Boston? Pretty sure he is still remembered by most as a Piston.

All the stuff going on in the offseason is going to hurt the players bargaining position.

You can't have them running around breaking laws because it won't take long for the statistic to come up about how many players are getting into legal trouble.

Owners will say "Hey we aren't just paying these guys, we're giving them direction in life"

Bad asses drive erratically for the sake of drama alone. Ask Burt Reynolds or the Dukes of Hazzard. Its a scientific fact.

I think these glorified meter maids in Detroit got a little uppity on my man Benny.

This case was largely kept quiet (by the media, who has an interest in keeping this particular story uninteresting), but my hookup (friends with HeathMalc, who is by no means related to A Mac) told me that Mr. Wallace was asked to cameo on Man v. Food, and he was slightly confused by the notion of not killing his dinner. Adam, bless his heart, was the latest casualty, but his extinction was in good company: Mr. Wallace also ended the Sabertooth Tiger and the Megalodon.
