Exclamation Wade sees LeBron as future teammate

A few days old, but I didn't see it posted.

Quote:
"Before we agreed to terms, LeBron and I had a couple conversations," Wade said. "I can't recall exactly what we said, but the gist of it was we wanted to give ourselves the flexibility and the option to play together.

"A lot of times in this league, players usually wind up going where they can get the most money. We're both blessed within that area. We've made a lot of money. So we wanted to base our decision on two things, the organization and the ability to win a title. And that's what we'll do. When the season is over, we plan to sit down and talk about it.

"I'm not saying it will happen. But I'm intrigued by the idea.

"I probably couldn't have handled playing with someone like LeBron earlier in my career, but I'm older now. You're talking about two big egos and meshing them. That'd take a lot of sacrifice on LeBron's part and it'd take a lot of sacrifice on my part to succeed. But we would succeed because we know winning takes care of everything."

2 guys that play the same way. It won't work and they won't win anything together.

Wade. Shut up already. How about you play 100% for your current team and keep these wet dreams to yourself.

the knicks have about $20 mil in cap space before they sign lee, who is currently on a 1 year deal. if they can get lee, lebron, wade and camby for $5 mil each they have the best gm on the planet.

Harrington/Hughes are off the books in 2010, Eddie curry has the player option. Knicks payroll without Lee in 2010 is 27 Mil, what are you talking about? You think the knicks are just going to make one solid move? hell no.

If Wade and Lebron were really smart that's exactly what they'd do.

I'm skeptical though.

eddy curry will pick up that player option.

him + jeffries is $18.16 mil.

galinari, hill, chandler, douglas combined is $9.17 mil.

the six open roster spots will cost about $2.85 mil (teams are charged for that).

that brings the total to $30.18 mil.

with a projected cap of $50-$53 mil, that gives them $23 mil, max, and only 6 guys on the roster. they can sign one max guy and 1 or 2 cheap role players. the only other way to create cap space is to trade eddy curry and/or jeffries for an expiring deal before the deadline. i can't imagine any gm stupid enough to give away his 2010 cap space for eddy curry or jared jeffries. if you can find another way to create cap space or land a star when you have no 1st round picks and no assets i'd love to hear it.

maybe lebron or maybe wade, not both. maybe you could convince lee to play for $6 mil to play alongside those guys. maybe.

but unless lebron and wade are ready to play on the cheap i can't conceive of any way they can both be signed, let alone with lee and camby as well.

but maybe you know a loophole in the cba. if so, i'm all ears.

wade doesnt have that same "no championship" stigma resting on his shoulders. so the pressure is really on lebron to make things work. i can see him going to miami... why not?

Wade
Bron
Bosh
Noah

off the bench:
Tyrus
Kirk
Deng
Salmons

need another C let's go Bulls

actually they could dump some of those expensive back ups in S&T, or try
(Kirk, Deng, Salmons..)

if salmons decides to decline his eto ($5.8 mil) and the bulls rescind their qualifying offer to tyrus ($6.2 mil), the bulls would have only $32 mil in committed salaries for 2010. this would give them about $2 mil less cap space than the knicks (so between $19 and $21 mil in cap space). again, that's not enough for two max players, but if you could convince all the dudes to sign on the cheap you could get them for $6 - $7 million each. of course they wouldn't have salmons on tyrus on the bench either.

so what we're really looking at is:

rose
wade (at $6.5 mil - leaving $10.5ish mil on the table)
lebron (at $7 mil - leaving $10ish mil on the table)
bosh (at $6.5 mil - leaving $10.5ish mil on the table)
noah

off the bench:
kirk
deng

no more money for free agents because you don't get exceptions if you enter free agency below the cap.

it would certainly be easier to trade kirk or deng for cap space than eddy curry or jeffries, but if i was a gm that had $12 million in expiring deals i'm not sure that deng would be on the top of my list as guys i would want to acquire. same goes for kirk at $9 mil. but i'm not a gm. maybe someone might feel differently.

I know. I was kind of kidding. Running with the idea if the Knicks could do that why could the Bulls not do that?

But, I didn't mean Kirk and Deng for expirings but for instance in a sign and trade for Bosh or Wade or Bron. Then they could still get a max too, that player at least.

Kirk, Salmons, Tyrus for Bosh is better than letting him walk right? Or do you prefer cap space then?

Now, the question is, which team are they going to play for? Miami? Cleveland? Dare I say...the Knicks?
