Vancouver and the NBA?

I remember some rumors about Vancouver going after the Hornets team, but that's faded away. Any ideas, articles on it recently? I would love to have another Canadian NBA team, and do you think Vancouver has a big market for the NBA? Opinions etc appreciated!

I think that Vancouver is a no-brainer now with the dollar close to par and no team in Seattle.

I hope it happens.

Same here. I have a feeling that Seattle is gonna get a team before Vancouver if it ever happens though.

Does the NBA have faith in the dollar staying that strong long term with the global economy in the shitter. Not that it wouldn't be better then the sitaution in New Orleans.

AGREED, MTL AND VAN CITY ARE BOTH FANTASTIC MARKETS FOR THE NBA

I think Vancouver should get a team back. They seem like a big enough market, and it would be great to get another Canadian team. The downside is what if they have another riot though!!!

Who cares. Not that I think that Vancouver will get another team, but who cares if it would piss off Sonics fans?

Montreal I don't think would be any good, thats a hockey city. Not saying it wouldn't work, just don't think it would.

Actually I read somewhere that basketball is quite popular in cities like Montreal, Calgary, Edmonton and Halifax, probably moreso than vancouver imo. I don't understand the thinking that a city will only support one sport and they just can't diversify. I also remember how great our exhibition game there last year was. They also love football. There is room for other pro teams in a province the size of Quebec.

Dario 12-22-2011 04:12 PM

You really never know. It's all about the guys with the big bucks that actually want to close a deal.

Football I agree, but it would never happen. I just never heard of Montreal being a huge basketball supportive place, was more or less my own opinion really.

Basketball is big in Halifax though you are right, but we'd never be able to support any pro team here in a major league so it doesn't matter. Happy we have the NBL though, and surprised they didn't include places farther west for teams. Oh well its the first year.

Why would you want an NBA team in Canada when they hate our country in the first place? US media always diss our team every chance they get but still Raptors management and fans are coward to address it. Raptors are having a hard time recruiting players here because our team is in Canada: cold, foreign country, blah blah blah... now, you want Vancouver to have an NBA team?? That's somewhat adding insult to injury don't you think? Not to mention the ridiculous overvalued housing market in British Columbia.

Honestly, do you even know about the situation and how they left?
