The problem is we are not playing well against any team. So we might lose against Argetina or Lithuania.

Bel, a loss is a loss no matter what the difference. Why does it matter?
I know they should've tried harder but hey, what can you do with USA raping you on D?

Me as Belsius expected something more from Spain and I'm worried too about our bad games in all the games.

I think Spain misses the Jorge of old, and maybe Pepe? They did not look the same as they have in the past. There seems to be two teams there, with the new crop of players not quite integrating into the whole.

Meanwhile - I loved how much Bosh was banging. There's no way he was going to do that on a bum knee or a bad heel. He looks more comfortable around the net all the time.

That's a stupid and arrogant statement.

they obviously weren't better when they lost the world championships AND the Olympics.

NOW they have the best team, but before....well it just shows your ignorance.

Youre never gonna win with your 2nd best player not looking to create or score. Jose looked like he didnt even want to play. Ricky ran the show 10x better.

If Spain wants to beat the US they need to play a 3 guard lineup at all times so they can limit the turnovers and thus the US's momentum. Start Ricky/Jose/Rudy, and then substitute in Navarro at a certain point for Rubio, then Rubio for Rudy and so on. Theyre never gonna win with that Jimenez guy or whatever at the 3 because he cant dribble drive and make the US pay on the traps.

That and they need to space the floor better. Whenever the US doubled Gasol the man on the weakside at the 3pt line in the corner was always open, they need to find a way to get the ball out to him after a quick pass, and on pick and roll make quicker passes but NOT to the roller because theres always a guard there to impede.

Spain needs to keep it simple and thats how theyre gonna keep it close.

They got in the same trouble the same way all the teams besides Australia got in trouble in playing the US, trying to make the homerun pass. I'm hoping eventually a team figures it out then we'll finally get to see a contest. Hopefully now with Bogut the Aussies can continue their solid play vs the US and we'll have a close game til the end./

The also obviously weren't fielding anywhere near their best team when they lost the world championships and Olympics.

They still aren't fielding their best team.

American basketball as a whole never lost it's dominance. Team USA did briefly, but American Basketball certainly did not.

Exactly my point, im sick and tired of Europeans claiming they are better at basketball then the USA, fact is you never were, and if they have the motivation and time to prepare similarly, if American kids grew up dreaming of Olympic basketball gold instead of NBA rings, they would always crush.

The margin of talent has never been close, the last man off team USA's bench would be the go to guy or at worst 2nd best player on any other team, that says alot.

They will prove it this time, squash everyone, then probably go back to letting the world have its fun and not really trying til the talk gets to be too much like it did this time. Im not sure the passion will be there in 4 years for alot of these guys. But its certainly there now, and i dont think anyone has a chance.

disagreed (partially).

For a small period of time, USA basketball let down its guard and that resulted in other countries claiming top spots - so no, they weren't the best and can't claim to have been the best when they were losing major competitions.

Maybe the best individual basketball players were still american, but USA basketball as an organization was not. The results back that up.

Just for the record, Jose isn't the best second player at Spain. Out of Pau Gasol, there isn't a special guy in Spain.

No, He's right Fancy. USA Basketball as an organization let it's guard down, not Basketball in the US. They chose to continue to use the world stage as a marketing tool, they have been pushing players thta are not necessarily the best, but that have appealed to a specific core group of consumers.

Thats it. Thats all.

If they wanted to put out a team that was designed to simply dominate and win, they could, would and now are.

+1

Perhaps another beatdown of every team you consider remotely close to the USA will convince you, but i think in the world alot of european fans live in, that it wont, oh well.

Until you have more then 1 legit NBA star on your team, i wouldnt go around even thinking you are close to the USA. They came ill prepared and unmotivated so many times, gave you and your country(s) a little hard on because you won something that to them isnt that important, unfortuantely alot of you talked too much shit and made them feel embarrassed, next time keep your fool mouths shut and it may last longer, let sleeping dogs lie. Lesson learned :P

The european development of players is still superior in that everyone has a full set of skills and knowledge, rather than a specialization. And that kind of approach actually does provide a pretty decent advantage in terms of throwing together a team that does not compete full-time. You throw together a bunch of guys that can each do one or two things really well, and ask them to get the most out of each other's specific talents, practically overnight, and chances are they are just going to try to figure out how to best sell more shoes.
