USA Olympic Team Roster

Not sure if this should go here but:

Quote:

Nominated for the 2012 U.S. Olympic Team were: Carmelo Anthony (New York Knicks); Kobe Bryant (Los Angeles Lakers); Tyson Chandler (New York Knicks); Kevin Durant (Oklahoma City Thunder); Blake Griffin (Los Angeles Clippers); James Harden (Oklahoma City Thunder); Andre Iguodala (Philadelphia 76ers); LeBron James (Miami Heat); Kevin Love (Minnesota Timberwolves); Chris Paul (Los Angeles Clippers); Russell Westbrook (Oklahoma City Thunder); and Deron Williams (Brooklyn Nets).

The USA roster features five members of the 2008 gold medalist U.S. Olympic Team (Anthony, Bryant, James, Paul and Williams), five members of the gold medalist 2010 World Championship team (Chandler, Durant, Iguodala, Love and Westbrook), and two newcomers (Griffin and Harden).

The average age of the 12 U.S. players is 26.1 years of age.

The 2012 USA coaching staff is led by Duke University Hall of Fame mentor Krzyzewski, who has led the USA Basketball Men's National Team to gold medal finishes at the 2010 FIBA World Championship and 2008 Beijing Olympics. Assisting Krzyzewski is Syracuse University and Hall of Fame coach Jim Boeheim, and former NBA head coaches Mike D'Antoni and Nate McMillan.

Thoughts?

How about them Thunder. 3 Olympians on their roster that are all under 23 and already have a Finals appearance under their belts.

Not weaker per say, just younger.

This is a lot of those players' first Olympics. In a few years, they'll be even more scary than they are now.

Still beats the crap outta any other team.

Windex 07-08-2012 12:26 AM

a lot of players are injured

having just Durant, LeBron and Paul makes them the favourites. K Love's style should fit international ball.

LOG 07-08-2012 12:30 AM

I see Spain giving them some hard time, but i do agree they will win gold

edki 07-08-2012 04:10 AM

this team is overloaded with guards, what if one of the big suffers injury? I realize that you don't need dominant big to play European teams but still, only one natural centre...

LKeet6 07-08-2012 07:03 AM

USA to beat spain by 10+ in final.

Spain will give them a hard time in the paint with the Gasol brothers and Ibaka since Chandler is the only legit big they have to defend the paint. If USA plays a fast pace I don't think it will be too much of a factor though.

I don't see Spain giving them hard time. At least +15 points for USA in the group games, +30 against Tunisia. Easy wins all the way.
