Bucks Ukic: Glad to be going to a young team with a chance at the playoffs

Quote:
Here is a real translation with context - not done by a Google translator via RealGm:

The trade that was secretly stewing for days was finally announced Monday and will become official once the player physicals are completed. Ukic is moving from Toronto to Milwaukee where his contract should keep him through the next two seasons.

"I am happy and pleased about the trade, I am going to a young club that will be fighting to get in the playoffs." Ukic is the second Croatian in Bucks uniform whose starting centre is an Australian Croat Andrew Bogut. "I am glad that I will be playing alongside Andrew", added Roko.

Last year the Bucks were in the playoff race until 3 games before the end of the regular season even though they were hard hit in the fall by a season-ending injury to their best player Michael Redd. Until his injury they appeared to be a lock to make the playoffs but his absence proved to be too much to overcome.

In the meantime, wings Richard Jefferson and Charlie Villanueva have left the club, as did the starting PG Ramon Sessions who became a free agent. "I expect to have a fair fight for the minutes with Luke Ridnour and Brandon Jennings and it is not unimportant that Scott Skiles wanted me on the team", insisted Roko.

Skott Skiles liked Ukic back when he was the head coach of the Chicago Bulls and while Ukic was still playing in Europe. Bucks insisted on getting Ukic in the deal, while the Raptors were heavy-hearted to let him go due to the potential he has shown in his rookie NBA season. Ukic averaged 12.4 minutes, 4.2 points, 2.1 rebounds and 1.0 assist.

Obviously he's going to be happy, all the guy wants to do is play. Now he has a remote chance of playing garbage minutes.

Cheers

Roko is not going to get to play in Milwaukee. Ridnour and Jennings are going to eat all the minutes. He's going to be in the same boat, 3rd string PG.

Which is why i think he'll opt out after this up coming season and go back to Europe. His PO for 2010-11 is only 1.4Mil and he could get that in Europe.

he should be happy.
he wouldnt have gotten off the bench here... at least in Milwaukee he should get some PT... although, Jennings and Ridnour and maybe even Sessions wont make it easy.

There could potentially be as little time for Ukic in Milwaukee as there would be for him here. Ukic's only hope of consistent playing time is a significant injury to Jennings or Ridnour. And that's assuming Sessions doesn't come back. He could be looking at adding to his DNP-CD album if Sessions is in a Bucks uniform.

If Sessions is back (doubtful) Roko will be a constant DNP. Without Session he'll just be an occasional DNP. lol

Five minutes a game at the max. This situation won't be any different than his situation in Toronto. He was merely included in the deal to make the numbers work.

Jennings has always been known to be a hot head. I could see something between him and the team breaking out and him getting traded or multiple team suspensions, clearing room for Roko.

Cheers

Skiles is the perfect coach for Roko.

I think he'll get consistent minutes.

Yep,

And it's not like Ridnour and Jennings have their playing time locked up like Jose does here.

The opportunity is their for Roko to get playing time if he performs.

It wasn't really available here, regardless of how he performed.

That's a big difference.

He said he learned his lesson. He has more talent in his pinky than Ukic has in his whole body. Gotta think Ukic is going to have trouble beating him out. That is unless the Bucks want to continue to lose.
