Trouble in Paradise? - Brandon Roy to Blazers: "I've done everything I can."

Quote:
Brandon Roy to Blazers: "I've done everything I can."
by John Canzano, The Oregonian

Brandon Roy told KJR radio in Seattle today that he's frustrated and disappointed with the Trail Blazers handling of his contract extension negotiations. He talked a lot about the hard work he's put in, and all he's done to make his dreams come true, and about being patient as he watches the good days and bad days come down the pipeline.

He wants to get a deal done and is confused as the rest of us as to why the left brainers in the organization are standing in the way.
Also, another telling statement:

Quote:
On whether he was involved in the Hedo Turkoglu recruitment: "Not playing much of any role. It's hard for me to go out and recruit Hedo for five years when I have only one year on my deal."

What the heck is going on with the Portland braintrust that they won't pay their franchise player?

And is there any way we can take advantage of the situation?

Blown out of proportion I think. Of course they're gonna offer him, but they want to sign a FA first maybe?

This is supposed to be the worst quote:
On watching the negotiations: "I sit back and think about all the hard work I've put into my dream... excited about the opportunity to provide for my family. I go in... knowing that I've come into the league and I've done everything I can do to get a max contract."

I don't see how you should interpret that as coming from a frsutrated player.
He's done everything he can.. pretty standard.. excited.. he's saying nothing really.

I heard he wants to play somewhere with a bigger gay population..seriously, he's going to end up with a massive extension, why draw attention to yourself and team by doing this?..very unexpected from a projected model human being like Roy..

I think the media has blown it a wee bit out of proportion, but in this day and age with every team with a Lebron, Wade or Bosh worried about losing their top player, Portland is in a good situation. They have a franchise player who WANTS to sign long-term, why wouldn't the GM want to close that deal asap? Or is there concern that Roy is not a MAX player?
