Trouble in La-La-Land

Los Angeles Lakers' Andrew Bynum says team has trust issues - ESPN Los Angeles

Quote:

"I think it's quite obvious for anyone who is watching the games," Bynum said. "There's hesitation on passes, defensively not being there for your teammate because he wasn't there for you before, stuff like that."

Lakers guard Kobe Bryant said he understood what Bynum meant after the game.

"I think the trust that he's referring to is being able to help each other on the defensive end of the floor," Bryant said. "You saw a lot of layups. He gets frustrated when he supports a guard coming off a screen-and-roll and nobody supports him."

.................................................. .................

Bynum said this is a problem that has plagued the Lakers all season, but the team will have to properly address it before Friday's Game 3 and rectify it if they have a chance of defeating the Mavericks.

"If we go to the root of what's really hurting us and not candy-coat things and not talk around issues, then we'll be fine. If not, then we won't," Bynum said. "I think we've addressed them before, but now is the time to really sit down and ask yourself the tough questions."

Down 2-0 going back to Dallas against a Mavericks team that can actually play some defense.

Blow it up. :cookie:

Bynum to Toronto for Bargnani.

LX 05-05-2011 04:00 PM

Can't Phil just hide the weaknesses? hehe

That would be absolutely incredible. Bynum is a damn beast, 100x better than Marc Gasol.

:)

Hell, considering JJ Barea is looking like Chris Paul out there against them, they have some SERIOUS issues on defense. And Pau is looking soft right now and Artest seems to have checked out. It's kinda of a mess. And they look so disinterested at time. Like they just don't care.

I hate the Lakers so it's great but it's weird seeing them like this.

LX 05-05-2011 10:08 PM

It's particularly strange considering how they can finally count on Bynum to perform consistently. Winning championships just ain't easy. There have been a few Lakers rings that required a good deal of luck. I'm still hoping to see none of that for another couple of games.

Well with Artest suspended for the next game, it should be interesting.

LOL Bargs won't help anyone out defensively.

I would do that trade even if Bynum only played 60-65 games a season. Which is really good when it comes to him.

Such a shame that the Lakers are playing like they don't give a shit when it's Phil's last season. He's loaded with rings I know, but a horrible way to go out as the best coach ever, in the 2nd round, possibly a sweep.

Need a damn good backup for all the games hes gonna be hurt.

The Raptors getting Bynum for Bargnani would be huge. You would arguably be getting the 2nd best Center in the NBA, and say if Toronto made him their first option, he could be a 20 and 9 player. The only problem would be his health but if Triano did what Phoenix did with Shaq in 09 and rest him a game here and there, it could be great for you guys.

LX 05-07-2011 02:57 PM

Yeah - the solution to Gasol's soft play would be to pair him up with Bargnani.

I agree, let's do it.

I can just see it now..... LA will somehow manage to pull off a deal for D12 (Bynum + fillers) and then I will break my laptop

Let me channel my inner 2K11 and propose this deal:

Howard
Reddick

for

Bynum
Odom/Artest (Orlando would probably prefer Odom)
Brown.

:police:

EDIT: LA throw's in a few picks and I can see ORL taking this deal, especially is Dwight wants out.

Bill Haverchuck 05-07-2011 08:40 PM

If Orlando does trade D12 to L.A., they should force the Lakers to also take one of their brutal contracts, like Gilbert's or Hedo's.
