Default Trade deadline

pretty boring. aside from yesterday's deal, this is the only other to reach surface so far.

Quote:
The Timberwolves and Kings have agreed in principle to a deal that will send Shelden Williams and Bobby Brown to the Timberwolves, two sources told ESPN.com's Chad Ford.

In exchange, the Kings will receive Rashad McCants and Calvin Booth, the sources told Ford.

The deal would give the Kings two players with expiring contracts and allow them to get Brown's 2009 salary of $736,420 off the books for next year.

For the Wolves, the addition of Williams would help replace Al Jefferson, who's out for the season with a torn ACL.

McCants was the 14th overall pick in 2005. He is averaging 9.1 points per game, but has appeared in only six games since Jan. 1.

Williams was the fifth overall pick in 2006 by Atlanta. He has never fulfilled the promise he showed while at Duke and is averaging just 3.7 points and 2.6 rebounds for the Kings.
Sources: Monnesota Timberwolves dealing Shelden Williams, Bobby Brown to Sacramento Kings for Rashad McCants and Calvin Booth - ESPN

knick's also picked up wilcox for malik rose's expiring contract

Source: New York Knicks trade Malik Rose for Chris Wilcox - ESPN

don't really understand the point of exchanging expiring contracts. i guess malik will offer some leadership for the short time he'll be there, but the thunder are definitely taking the talent hit.

Not a trade, but interesting nonetheless.

Nets a Thorn in Blazers’ side?

A proposed Vince Carter-to-Portland deal appears unlikely because New jersey Nets president Rod Thorn is opposed to giving into the Trail Blazers about including the 2011 No. 1 draft pick that the Nets own from a trade with the Golden State Warriors.

The Dallas Mavericks still loom as a potential trade partner for the Nets, but the market has increasingly dried up for the pricey guard.

“It feels like Dallas has 100 different scenarios juggling in the air,” one Western Conference executive said Thursday.

We could've gotten Wilcox to play as a backup big.

Would've been nice...

For now, this seems like a very lackluster deadline considering all the hoopla and potential deals that were in the making. Then again alot of trades are always announced after the deadline itself so we still have time...

Could the Knicks make three deals today? Sources say the Kings have offered Kenny Thomas for Nate Robinson and Jared Jeffries. If the Knicks could move Jeffries, it would clear another $6.8 million in the summer of 2010. The Knicks would have to give up the talented Robinson and eat Thomas' $8.7 million salary next year ... but it's probably worth it to the Knicks. Especially now that they've shored up their offense with the Larry Hughes and Chris Wilcox deals.
talk about lebron and Bosh to the knicks

One of the most intriguing deals discussed on deadline day has to be Andres Nocioni winding up with the defending champs.

It's unclear, as the final half-hour before the trade buzzer ticks away, which team actually halted these discussions. We've heard conflicting claims from both teams on who withdrew first.

Yet we do have agreement that the Celtics and Kings talked seriously Thursday about sending Nocioni to the Celts, which seemingly would have been a huge coup for Boston given the hole created by James Posey's departure in the offseason. Nocioni is a rugged, versatile, two-position forward who does a lot of the same stuff.

The deal likely would have required Boston to part with at least four players from its oft-criticized bench: Glen Davis, Brian Scalabrine, Patrick O'Bryant and the injured Tony Allen. Sacramento can only move Nocioni on his own after acquiring him only Wednesday in the Brad Miller/John Salmons deal with Chicago, since players can't be packaged in subsequent deals until 60 days have passed after being traded.
Wow!

Noc on the Celtics...

Wow..Boston didn't have much bench to begin with, but with this.. now they'll have nothing. Then again, I also heard rumblings that Joe Smith wants OKC to buy him out so he can sign with the C's.

I guess they're starting to trickle in...

Looks like we have a fairly significant three-way deal that has been submitted to the league just before the trade deadline.

NBA front-office sources tell ESPN.com that Orlando is acquiring Rafer Alston from Houston to fill the void created at point guard by Jameer Nelson's shoulder injury.

The Rockets will receive Memphis guard Kyle Lowry, Orlando forward Brian Cook and perhaps two other minimum-salaried players to make the finances work.

The Grizzlies will receive a first-round pick from Orlando.

Rafer's a good insurance pick-up for the Magic.

O'Bryant is a real project. But he's a big warm body.
