Default TNT-Player of the Decade is KB

Do people agree that Kobe is the player of the decade?
players in the running were: Kobe, Lebron, Nash, Shaq, Duncun, and KG.

Personally, I would agree with the tnt panel who also picked Shaq.
IMO, Shaq dominated the west and east winning championships with 2 different teams, and at times no one could stop him.
What y'all think?

Shaq is 38 now. Then again he would have had it easily if it was decided after this season where the Cavs will crush the Lakers in 4 and Shaq will make Kobe his biatch.

Im more of an LBJ fan but I have to admit that Kobe is the player of the mvp. Im getting sick of the biased panel and their constant belittling of fan choices. The fans got it right, Shaq and Duncan are close second and third

To ge fair, LBJ hasn't even been here the whole decade. Only 6 years...

My vote is for either Shaq, Timmy D, or Nash. Kobe was a safe pick though.

Shaq won 4 championships out of 10 years with the Lakers and Heat. Timmy won his fair share of rings during the decade, too. Nash won two MVP's, hard to rule him out.

Timmy without a doubt. However, you can make an argument on how Kobe won all 4 of his titles in this decade and Duncan having won only 3 titles in this decade and 1 in 1999. On the other hand Kobe had 1 season when he didn't make the playoffs and his team did horribly bad during that regular season as well. I choosed Duncan because after Robinson left Duncan was still able to bring 2 more titles to SA and when Shaq left Kobe wasn't able to do anything. That is until now after they got gasol.

kobe, the guy with 6 finals appearances over the past decade and only has 1 mvp

if were talking merchandise sales/money in stern's pocket and every other owner, then kobe is the player of the decade

I hope thats a joke because without Kobe the Lakers wouldn't have won 2001 or 2002. He basically carried them in throughout the West playoffs, then when the Finals came around Shaq would feast on some poor east conference center. I just wish the NBA would count the whole playoffs when determining the Finals MVP instead of just the Finals.

Still the player of the decade is still between Shaq and Duncan. I'd say Duncan just because he was more consistent through the ten years, plus did TD ever have a the two best SG of this decade (Wade and Kobe) on any of his Championship teams. Taking nothing away from shaq (His peak years 199-2002 were arguably the best years ever for a center) but take away a Hall of fame effort by Bennett Salvatore in the finals, then Shaq and TD are tied for NBA championships this decade.

Same can be said about the other four on the list so that doesn't mean anything.

And, You know what they say.. Every joke is half the truth.

Still without Kobe the refs and Horry wouldn`t have their chance to bring their magic. IMO I would atleast put Kobe at third (1. Shaq and 2. PJ).

Well, to be honest I put Horry in there for dramatic purposes.
But he was vital as well.

I put the refs at three but imo it can be argued they should be higher. I think the difference between Shaq and PJ and the refs is very academical. I think all three were essential and more essential than Bryant. The reason why is because they are harder to replace. Bryant's role was scoring a lot from the wing and probably he was the best player in a couple of games, actually I'm pretty sure, but I would still think that role could have been played by others too. But Shaq is pretty much irreplaceable. The referees, same. It's tougher to say the same about PJ because his role was less out in the open for everybody to see so it is bound to be speculation to a certain point, but it's definitely not tough to imagine that he was irreplaceable and vital for that team based on not only his record but also the fact that he got this team and these players over the hump while they hadn't won it before. He made Shaq and Kobe champions. Always a tough call to determine how much the coach contributes though, how much he has to thank his players and his players him.

Horry was vital but you could argue he is very replaceable as well. But, the thing is, he scored those gamewinners and would his replacement have too? He's nowhere near the MVP of the team but he's like Derek Fisher. Both hit incredibly huge shots to save their teams title run.
