Tinsley Dealt to Denver

The deal is contingent on Tinsley passing a physical. Chronically injured over the last four years (only once playing more than 42 games) and embroiled in violent encounters on three separate occasions (none of which he instigated), he spent all summer in Atlanta rehabbing his body and is said to be a great condition.

Denver assumes his $21M, 3-year debt. Atkins is due $3.24M and $3.48M while Hunter is guaranteed $3.86M and $3.69M. Less than half of their total salary remaining is guaranteed.

That leaves Indy with 17 players under contract.
12 people for Denver.

That trades just makes no sense to me at all, on either side.

why aquire a 3RD point guard??? huh? This IS a headscratcher

Claudius 10-03-2008 09:53 AM

I think it's a smart trade for Denver. They needed a PG and not too long ago Tinsley was considered a decent PG. They have one now.

Indiana meanwhile? I understand they just wanted to get rid of him. They'll probably cut both loose or something.

Probably make salaries work. Or have him as third string?

MangoKidHoops 10-03-2008 10:21 AM

Atkins will probably be let go..or flipped for a 2nd rounder.

Snooch 10-03-2008 12:18 PM

False story, at least for now.

I've talked to a couple people - one from the Pacers camp and another from the Nuggets camp - this morning and both sides say point guard Jamaal Tinsley has not been traded to Denver for point guard Chucky Atkins and center Steven Hunter as reported by the New York Post.

Please god let this happen. Tinsley, Iverson, and Melo, what a trio! :haha: :haha: :haha: This also does nothing to solve their horrible frontcourt, and taking on this contract pretty much takes away anything they got from giving away Camby's salary for nothing.

I love the Nuggets.

Gurk 10-03-2008 05:14 PM

LOL This trade really makes me laugh

Raptorman 10-04-2008 08:41 AM

The Nuggets are coming to Toronto on Dec 31 (New Years Eve) They play from 7 to 10ish. Will this be a busy game since no one has to work the next day?

I dont remember a New Years game in the past.

Gurk 10-04-2008 10:46 AM

They'll (The Nugs) will totally mail in the game. I remember a few years back on a Friday night - I think it was in March - they came in and Camby, Melo and AI were hosting a party that same night right after the game - I think Toronto won that game by like 30 points.

As for whether it'll be a busy game.. I think it will be.. people will still be able to get to their destinations to party before midnight.

Whoever's forgotten, Nuggets still have Nene. Just a heads up.

Huh? Uuuuummm.. thanks?

Claudius 10-07-2008 10:38 AM

I think Flash may be insinuating that by having Nene it makes them a solid contending team? I didn't realize that Nene is that big of a game changer but he apparently is.

On a sidenote, I remember when so many people thought that the future of that team looked so bright when they drafted Melo. They were apparently young and the team of the west for the next decade. What the hell happened to those days?
