In those situations coach/players always warn refs to call an immediate timeout off a rebound. So as soon as they gather the rebound, the whistle is blown. Probably leaves them around 0.6 atleast seconds to get a decent shot at tying the game or potentially winning it. You might even have a chance at throwing a lob. If you make the FT, the worse that can happen is OT... I thought the "greedy" part was when he got fouled to shoot those free throws. The clock showed 1.8 seconds before he received the inbounds pass. At that point why not just catch the ball and shoot it straight up in the air? I saw Rubio do it a couple days ago...why don't more players do this? 1.8 seconds is not enough for someone to call timeout off a toss, even if it's a weak one like Michael Ruffin's against us when Mo Pete hit that three. Lol. Meh, say what you want about it, its a more mathematically/statistically viable strategy for OKC.
Be up 2 with 0.4 (or maybe even less if they tip the rebound) OR Be up 3 with 1.1 left. Plenty of time for GS to tie it up. (who was shooting over 50% from the field) Considering OKC was on a back to back where they went into OT last night, missing the FT would have been the right move. But they won anyway, so theres no point in me expanding further energy proving my logics superiority. ![]() |
