Shooting 32% from three point range is the equivalent of shooting 48% from 16-23 feet. Obviously 32% is much easier to hit. Wade only shot 37% from 16-23 feet last year (equivalent to about 25% from 3) and LeBron shot about 45% (equivalent to about 30% from 3). However, the more they shoot from that range, the lower the percentage generally. This lowers their efficiency, and as the defence, you have done your job if Wade/Bron settle for that 16-23 foot jumper. This basically means it is a better decision to shoot a three than to shoot this very inefficient long-2 jumpshot. We'll see how this plays out as the season goes on. Fewer set plays didn't hurt Dallas in the playoffs. Playing a more random offense should only help any team in the playoffs, where teams can get their defenses set more and more effectively when they get an increasing sense of what is coming.
And 23 foot jumpers aren't a great thing to rely on, but 16 is a whole other story, and would be preferable in my mind, by far, when in th flow of the offense, than settling for 3's at the beginning or end of the shot clock. Lebron and Wade need to bring that flow more than they need to worry about efficient percentages. They have other shooters that can work off them in taking good shots from behind the arc. |

Clippers are so much fun to watch already and theyre nowhere near as good as theyre going to be.
It does puzzle me why Griffin continues to pop instead of roll with Paul on the pick and rolls. Your jumper isnt good yet buddy |
