Nocioni to Boston??

Sources told ESPN.com that the Philadelphia 76ers and Sacramento Kings, in discussing a Samuel Dalembert-for-Kenny Thomas swap, have discussed expanding that concept with Boston by trying to draw in the Celtics on a potential three-way deal that would finally land Andres Nocioni in Boston.

Discussions are reportedly ongoing and they have a long ways to go before being completed.

Sacramento would send Nocioni to Boston, Kenny Thomas, Tony Allen and Brian Scalabrine to Philadelphia and Dalembert and J.R. Giddens to Sacramento.

Well Dalembert to the Kings would definately help one of my fantasy clubs.

It looks like Philly will be getting hosed in that... Must be to rid themselves of Dalembert's contract?

Sources further stressed over the past 48 hours that this should be classified as an ongoing conversation as the teams involved decide how much they like what’s on the table.

But the full deal as it stands, if it eventually gets that far, would send Nocioni to Boston, Kenny Thomas, Tony Allen and Brian Scalabrine to Philadelphia and Dalembert and J.R. Giddens to Sacramento.

The Raptors should be getting in on this action. Noc would be perfect for this team. They could move Hedo to the 2 and start Noc at the 3 in Garbajosa's old role.

If this trade happens Boston wins. Philly doesn't get much other than moving a "headache" in Dalembert. Not a fan of Dalembert cutting into Hawes/Thompson mins...

If the trade happened the way it stands right now, that would have to be Philly's motivation for participating in this deal. Dalembert's got $23.5 million left on a 2 year deal, according to HoopsHype's salary listings. The contracts of Kenny Thomas, Scalabrine, and Tony Allen are all expiring after this year. So next year Philly would have over $12 million removed from the books. Plus, ditching Dalembert will allow Speights to take on a bigger role when he returns from his injury.

You indicated you like Noc, so no need for me to point out the obvious talent/toughness upgrade for Boston. This doesn't even cost Boston much financially, either, since they shed $6 mill in contracts while picking up Noc's $7.5 million. The only possible downside is that Noc's deal has two more guaranteed years after this season. It's a tradeable contract, though, so I don't see it as a downside, really.

Picking up Dalembert isn't that costly for Sacremento, either. Next season it will translate to an extra $5 million or so over what it would cost to pay Noc, but the Kings can absorb that. Sacramento would still be under the cap next year, and thus in position to add yet another moderately priced veteran to their line-up through free agency, or participate in a trade with lop sided salaries so that they can pick up a valuable piece. Trading Noc will create more minutes for Casspi, too.

I've got a feeling that one or two of the minor players will be added/switched or picks and cash are going to be thrown Philladelphia's way. Shedding Dalembert's contract helps them, but they are also picking up Thomas who doesn't even play. If I was Philly's GM, I would insist that Sacremento pays for part of his contract, similar to the way the Raps paid for part of George's in the Belli deal. That, or at least demand a pick.

Why help Boston even more? It's not right.

Interesting.
Not feeling the 6'10 @ SG, interesting combination of players but I highly doubt it will work out.
I think Nocioni would work better at the 2

Getting in on this action would be difficult for the Raptors to do without giving up multiple rotation players or sending Philladelphia a truck load of cash. Boston is contributing expiring contracts to make this deal work. If the reported details of this proposed trade are accurate, there is only a couple of things the Raps could do to take Boston's place. The only expiring contracts the Raptors have belong to Antoine Wright, Amir Johnson, POB, and Rasho. To get the money to work, the Raps would have to send POB and 2 of the other 3 players with expiring contracts (Amir, Wright, or Rasho). Another option that could be done, which would allow the Raps to avoid including a couple of the expiring contracts, involves sending Marcus Banks to Philly. However, in order to get that done, the Raps would have to send a truck load of cash (at least $3-4 million) because Philly's GM would probably insist that we offset most of the cost of Banks's additional year left on his contract. Until Reggie is healthy, and we know for sure what Pops is bringing to the table this year, giving up Amir or Rasho could be risky.

Default Source: Nocioni Not on Boston's Radar

Quote:
According to two sources, there has been no discussion from the Celtics' side on this deal, and one of those two sources said the Celtics have not reached out to Sacramento about inquiring about Nocioni. The issue for Boston is the length of Nocioni's contract. He is signed through 2012 with a team option for 2013. This is no way the Celtics, with decisions regarding Ray Allen and having just committed $55 million to Rajon Rondo, are going to take on that kind of money.
