Smile Team specific chants

Question for you guys. Pretty much all professional teams I'm watching use the same slang/chant during the games. "Let's go XXX, D-fence, everybody clap your hands", etc. Why not any team has an authentic song/slang/etc in the NBA? When the games come down to crucial minutes, I don't think these would generate any pressure on the team, they're so used to hearing these over and over again.

pretty true. It something that sucks in the NBA. They even use the same god damn songs. I dont how many times I have listened to Welcome to the Jungle. I think Rocket fans do their own stuff.

cause tickets are too expensive for real fans to go to games
this is not soccer where we have supporter groups and discount tickets for supporters

it's just not really the north american way. i agree that it's no good, but look at any major n/a sport - hockey, baseball, basketball, football - rarely do you see a team-sepcific chant or song.

i remember steve nash talking about it. i think he once said he'd give up his entire nba career to play one game for tottenham and get chills running up and down his spine listening to the crowd sing in unison while he carried the ball up the pitch.

I really don't think players care what's being sung or said as long as the crowd is loud and into it.

The Raptors had their own song many moons ago for the playoffs called "Purple Fever".

It was horrible and as a Raptors fan I was embarassed by it.

The sea of red also backfired a few years ago when the Nets wore their red jerseys for the first home game in Toronto.

college has chants, so do some of the older teams in baseball
you forgot about the MLS teams in NA
supporter groups do the chants, something NA sports don't have

college sports are fun to watch. Brass bands/ hyped up kids. you're right.

I know it may sound bad from business perspective but in Europe, clubs literally give away free tickets to fan groups. Some of these are problematic at times, start fights, etc. but in the end, they keep the whole stadium alive. when I watch an NBA game, first 3 quarters everybody is silent, just chatting, trying to see themselves on the scoreboard videos, then 4th quarter they increase voices. last 2 minutes they stand up. It may not be bad for owners to give away couple hundred tickets for free to designated fan groups.

colleges use, by and large, the team or school song. mls is using chants and supporters groups to try to mirror the international approach to the sport. neither of those are reflective of the typical approach north americans take towards pro sports.

However they do sing Sweet Caroline at a certain super awesome baseball field and you've haven't lived until you've sung this with 73,000 drunken fans...

We have one for the CFL blue bombers here in Winnipeg:

Ohhhhhh, I'd rather be a Bomber than a fucking Roughrider!
Ohhhhhh, I'd rather be a Bomber than a fucking Roughrider!
Oh, I'd rather be a Bomber than a fucking Roughrider, cause the Roughriders suck shit!

Not exactly classy, but thousands of people chant this in unison.

i herd that Bogut paid for a group of fans and made them sign contracts....so they have to be loud and cheer for the team...

here's a quote:
Quote:
For the 2009-2010 Bucks season, Bogut bought out a group of 100 lower-section seats to be given to fans that would show up to support the Bucks by creating outrageous, loud cheering to support the home team. The group was given the name "Squad 6" (after Bogut's number 6), and potential members were instructed to tryout for the offer, initially by attending auditions at the Bradley Center for Bogut himself. The group of Squad 6 can easily be seen (and heard) at home games by their varied and often wild costumes, as well as loud chants, playing of instruments, and general rowdy, home-team helping fervor.

Piston have, DETRIOT BASKETBALL.
Thunder have, Nelson from the Simpson laugh when you miss a foul shot.

We should start doing this at games, we would never forget a play.

It would be also pretty dope if we get a marching band sections like this:
