Targuy Ngombo

WTF?

Quote:

If you thought Bismack Biyombo was mysterious, wait until you hear about Targuy Ngombo. The name was first floated publicly by DraftExpress late Wednesday; DX's excellent Jonathan Givony asked his Twitter followers if anyone had ever heard of him. The guy allegedly plays in Qatar, and according to DX, could be a Minnesota Timberwolves pick in the 2011 NBA Draft on Thursday.

That is assuming that Targuy Ngombo actually exists.

Yeah. That, or close to 57th. The final 20 minutes of the draft was quite funny. The announcers seemed caught off guard, because 3 or 4 teams went with relative unknowns or guys that were big "reaches" (not expected to ever play a game in the NBA), several of whom also have names that are difficult to pronounce. It was funny on a couple of levels.

Next Hall of Famer.

Dark Knight 06-24-2011 02:56 PM

Targuy was selected with the 57th overall pick. You know who else was selected with that pick? Manu Ginobili in 1999. Coincidence? I think not. :reporter:

Except Targuy Ngombo is actually Tanguy Alban Harrys Ngombo, a soon-to-be 27-year-old forward who apparently duped everyone on his way to hearing his name called by Adam Silver on Thursday night.
