Meanwhile, Ford's retirement a big blow for Spurs, who have no other experienced backup PG on roster.

He had some good minutes with the Spurs, running the point as well as he did in Toronto but smarter instead of with speed.

He was a very talented player but all those injuries have added up.

LET'S GO RAPTORS!!!!! 03-12-2012 01:09 PM

More minutes for C.Joseph :cookie:

I was in Miami when he returned with the Raptors from his Atlanta injury. The Raps were very excited as were all the fans back home.

There might have been 3000 in the building as this was the 2nd year after the Heat won the rings.

It felt like a private showing of TJ and what he could do. The Raps were up something like 25 after the half. It was a magical game. I sat 7 rows behind the bench beside BC and Bosh's drunk mother.

However, I will never forget TJ hogging the ball to close out his last season. Refusing to pass and refusing to be part of the team. That shit gets you traded. I hope he saved some of his $$$ for his family.

TJ Ford is done

Frankly, he is a brave soul to have lasted this long with the threat that kept hanging over his neck, both literally and figuratively.

I wasn't his biggest fan, but still appreciated what he could do when healthy.

Sad day. He showed flashes of brilliance in his days as a Raptor. I was one of the people harping on keeping TJ and trading Jose. :mischief:

Too bad, I was always a big TJ Ford fan, but like he says, this move makes sense for his future.

I'll always remember the game winner that he hit from the free-throw line against LAC in LA.

Boo. :(

When did he hurt his neck again?

Said a lot of good things about city of Toronto, the organization,...

We’d all be standing around the middle of the Raptors locker room after games a bit awkwardly, maybe 10, 20, sometimes 25 beat grunts and camera operators and drop-ins, waiting patiently for whichever Raptor got dressed first so we could get some passable quotes to use in whatever story we were working on.

Chris Bosh was always the last – he had to get the earrings in and the tie knotted just so because you can’t do TV while looking slovenly – and the seconds would turn into minutes and the deadlines would be rapidly approaching.

And then, without fail, TJ Ford would be done, he’d approach the middle of the room where everyone was gathered and he’d catch someone by eye, stop for a second and say:

“Anyone need anything from me.”

It didn’t matter if he’d played well or poorly or at all, he’d stand there and answer questions honestly and with candor until the last questioner was gone; didn’t matter if they fled to talk to someone else or what, he’d wait and do whatever he had to do.

It was just the kind of guy he was, and is, and of all the Raptors to come down the pike in all the years, the tiny point guard was among the most honest, self-critical and forthcoming of them all.

Now, there can be no question, in his time in Toronto at least, that TJ had some issues. He didn’t handle the competition with Jose Calderon all that well – although I will tell you without question that the two remain friends today – and TJ had a tendency to sulk when things didn’t go his way. But he was a relative kid and in the grand scheme of things, I guess hindsight should give him a pass. He was TJ, and the stubbornness wasn’t necessarily a bad thing.

Thanks for spoiling Walking Dead with your picture you dick.

I really hated that night he went down in Atlanta. Everything looked pretty good up to that point, and they never got back to that sense of climbing upward from that point on.

Are we going to retire his jersey?

After all he did do this

Haha I liked TJ, good times.

Too bad the fans turned against him towards the end. If he never got hurt by Al Horford, who knows what would have happened.

wow those portland vs toronto highlights were fun to watch, its amazing how different we played, we had a bunch of guys who weren't athletes but played the right way and had high basketball i.q

and we won a ton of games,

now we got athletic players who have low basketball i.q especially in the last two years, and where flat out geting smashed
