Default SVG vs Stern and ESPN

I'm one of the rare people that likes Stern and what hes done in his tenure, bu this is dispicable. Denying the guy a job because of past differences. And now the ESPN halftime shows will stay just as bad as they were before. Turrible.

Bummer. I was looking forward to an injection of insight and entertainment from SVG and Simmons. Why doesn't Stalinern just purge the Van Gundys while he's at it? How I long for NBC coverage.

Well really, having the league involved in the media that covers it is already absurd and fucking brutal, what do you expect man..... and people think the NBA isn't rigged or controlled.

I don't know how about rating but I'm sure many will miss SVG on ESPN coverage. Hope these motherfuckers change their mind.

Stern did many good things for the NBA but he's been around for too long. Somewhat reminds me of Tom Kane (the Boss). No one should stay in management role 30 years, at some point it hurts the organization.

I like both stern and svg, but I have to say, this story is pretty thin. All we have is stan's conspiracy theory that somehow stern blocked his hire at espn, which is kind of far-fetched. I follow the NBA very closely and I didn't even know there's a rift between them, and for stern to pull strings at espn so he's not hired, there would have to be a blood feud, not just some minor dispute.

Like the article says, espn is the one paying the money and they have a huge leverage. They've been very critical of the league during lockout and I doubt the re's much the league can do. Sure, they could sabotage their access to various nba related circles, but they would shoot themselves in the foot, the coverage espn has of the league is one of the major reasons the nba is so popular.

Of course, stern and the higherups at espn probably have a close relation, and in a matter of life and death, he could probably pull such an unusual move. But why would he use his leverage for such a trivial purpose, unless there's some stuff we don't know about their relation. I mean, the article says that sterns and svg had issues because he complained about Howard's treatment - does that sound like something stern would lose sleep over?

Also, stan is a bit of difficult dude, he's a great coach, but he had issues in Miami and in Orlando. That stuff he pulled when he publicly said howard undermines him with the GM was fairly shocking to me, not many coaches would have done he same in a similar position.

So I will take this story with a major grain of salt ...
