Knicks really miss Shumpert's D in this one.

Looks like D-Will had this game circled on his calendar lol.

i have nightmares about losing my brother sometimes. the mental burden amare is going through is probably too harsh on him, but he's keeping a mask on it.

no offence or bad will, but come on, Amare has never played defence. Once the "stars" come back NY is in trouble man.

Lin vs. NYJ: 36 min, 21 pts, 7 rebs, 9 assists, 4 stls, 3 TOs

Still pretty good in the losing effort. Just got smoked by a guy with a hot hand tonight.

After looking at highlights, the Knicks really need to zone in on D. I mean how do you let the nets come into your arena and outplay you

Curious to see if anyone thinks Deron is the best PG in the game...

american? taiwanese? chinese? christian? national teams interested? pressures on family?

sure, this is just a feel-good story about an underdog.........

Linsanity spreading through Asia - The Globe and Mail

Quote:
“The special request I have is for the media back in Taiwan to give [my family] space, because they can’t even go to work without being bombarded, without people following them,” Lin said after sinking 28 points and adding 14 assists to lead the Knicks over the visiting Dallas Mavericks last Sunday. “I want people to respect their privacy.”

A few days before Lin spoke out, his grandmother and uncle had so many reporters camped outside their home on the outskirts of Taipei that they fled to their ancestral village in the south of the island, only to have reporters follow them there, too.

China’s official Xinhua newswire went one better, suggesting there were “increasing calls” for Lin Shuhao, Lin’s Chinese name, to give up his U.S. citizenship and become a Chinese citizen in time to play for the national team at the Olympics this year in London.

“Lin’s wonderful performance is making the calls for him to join the Chinese national basketball team louder and louder,” Xinhua reported, although it seemed to be raising the idea itself. “If this call is to become a reality, it requires… that Lin Shuhao to make up his mind and seize the opportunity.”

China doesn’t allow dual nationals. Another problem: His relatives have made it clear in media interviews that they are proudly Taiwanese, which wouldn’t sit well in Beijing, where Taiwan is considered to be no more than a breakaway province. He has more distant roots in China’s coastal Zhejiang province.
Quote:
Lin’s overt Christianity is another issue for a basketball-crazed mainland looking for a star to replace Yao Ming, the 7-foot-6 national treasure who was forced by injuries to retire last year at 30. Lin’s habit of praising his “lord and saviour, Jesus Christ” for his three-point shots doesn’t easily fit into the Communist Party’s narrative.

The state-run CCTV television network, which has a national monopoly on NBA games, has thus far refrained from adding extra Knicks broadcasts to its schedule. The network blames time differences, but some basketball fans here suspect the real block is the prospect of Lin talking Jesus while the crowd waves Taiwanese flags.

From someone else...
Quote:
Lin racing down court on a 3 on 1. He fakes ally oop to Mello then takes layup. Mello punches ball after play. Anyone else catch that??. Mello wanted to slam it and rock the Garden. Lin split second Harvard mind computes that Mello missed previous two layups. I saw a point guard that was already starting to get self conscience about making sure Mello gets ball. I hope their able to get on same page else doomed.
I H8 MELO.

^I'm not going to feel sorry for Knicks fans; they have one hell of a trade chip. There are plenty of teams that would be happy to take Mello off their hands.

Funny how Team play disappears once you go Pro. It's the saddest part of pro basketball. Guys are playing/ showing up for so much more than just ball. Melo has his own priorities, he's a man, I will respect what ever it is he feels he has to do. Lin is young, and trying to learn the pro game. clearly bringing the amateur game with him and playing team ball, or at least trying to play the way he was taught to fundamentally.

The old stars, Amare and Melo expect the ball, they have a sense of some distorted "earned entitlement" that the NBA has fostered in these 'star' players from how they are marketed way ahead of their immediate peers, to how the actual game is called. They don't like being looked off for any reason, as they cannot get theirs and even in a loss, they are more concerned about 25 ppg as opposed to maybe winning with 17 ppg.

The NBA created this mess.... I would hope they will learn to erase it.

I understand the beef with Melo, but I don't think Amare is that bad. He has been passive this year. If anything, he's backed-off from demanding the ball. Also, he worked well with Nash. I don't see any signs that he'd be demanding things from Lin.

Of course, the fact that Amare makes a shit load of money and is one of these "stars" you're refering to, does probably make Lin feel as though he has to try harder to get Amare involved - I acknowledge that - but I don't see Amare as feeling "entitled".

In my opinion, if you want to shit on Amare, give him a hard time for his mediocre defense.

Bench: Chandler, Baron, Bibby, J.R Smith, Novak, Shumpert, Douglas, Walker, Jeffries

I don't see Turkeyglue working there but it would interesting.
