Without a question the most over-rated player of the year.

He is not even in the top 50!! in any of the stats categories. Scoring, Assists, Field Goal %, Free Throw %, 3 Point %, Steals, Rebounds, nothing, nada, zilch!
And we're not talking about top 5 or top 10 but top 50! It's almost difficult not to be in one of the categories in top 50, if you are a starter. Yet every time I open nba.com, he is on the main page. The hype is simply ridiculous.

Ummm... is this because his team actually lost a game?

He's not in the top 50 because he wasn't getting steady starter's minutes until 7 games ago.

The guy is part of NBA history now with that 5-0 start and the numbers he put up. You can call it ridiculous if you like... but it's deserved.

He damn near pulled another one out. Missed a crucial layup. Managed to keep the turnovers under 10.

Horrid start for Lin with the TOs and just CRAP perimeter shooting from Novak, Shumpert, Walker and Fields sealed the game. And it STILL ended up being fairly close.

At least this should motivate them to play well against DAL on Sunday.

lol, the haters have been waiting forever for this. this couldn't have come sooner, just waiting for the best time to pounce and now finally got their wish.
he's have one bad game out of 8, so by looking at the percentages this is actually an abnormality.
yes the 9 turnovers are ridiculous but since when did we have a short leash on young players that have shown potential?
fact of the matter is, he's a good person that also happens to be pretty good at basketball and i'ma continue to support him through the good games and bad games. just like how i support my toronto Raptors thru the good and the bad

I didn't even know his team lost today actually. Just found out.

You're right about total numbers being low due to less minutes than usual but that doesn't explain the low numbers in percentages. 3 pt %, FG %, FT %, or things like Steal to Turnover Ratio, Steals per 48 mins, Assist to Turnover Ratio, etc. Go check it out if you don't believe me, he's not even in the top 50 in any of those categories, which have nothing to do with minutes played per game.

OK.... since he's been a starter now (not including tonight's game) he's been avging about 25 pts and 8 assists per game... while shooting over 50% from the field.... and leading his team to a 7-0 record.

If you take his numbers as a starter (which is what the hype is based on) he's absolutely in quite a few top 50 categories.

so the garbage minutes that he's tallied over a year and a half should be combined with the only 8 relevant games he's played in his entire career and you believe that will produce reasonable stats?

Gotcha. You say he's a good player based on those last 7-8 games he's been a starter. Maybe, maybe not, But I see your POV, even though we have different opinions on what to draw out of it.

Absolutely. I think what you're saying is an excuse. If you want to focus on last few games, that's fine and it might even make a point but saying that he only played garbage minutes and he sucked during that time is just an excuse. (Besides if you don't get starter minutes the best time to convince your coach is those minutes, since they're the only ones you get and as a professional you should do your best regardless.)

Anyway, in your previous post you already said you will support this guy no matter what, so I won't engage in irrational discussions with you.

Yes, not quite as much as Lin, but he certainly is. Also Turkoglu is repulsive, even more so than Lin.

Anyway, I see that you are a "fanatic" of Lin as well. Please ignore my posts on this topic as we won't have a meaningful conversation on this. I'm here to talk with people who are capable of arguments and critical thinking (like TORaptor4Ever), rather than just fans like yourself. What you wrote above responding to what I wrote is simply dull. I will not reply your posts on Lin, so please do the same for my posts.

D'Antoni himself has acknowledged that he made a mistake by not giving him a chance sooner. I really see very little to be unhappy about considering he's a young PG who's learning on the fly. When you take everything into account I think that he's done an amazing job.

Is he deserving of ALL of the hype that's come his way so far? Maybe not.... but to suggest that he's "overrated" is a bit harsh IMO... esp when you consider that his team is winning games.

Your first and second statements are contradictory to me. He's overrated (you disagree) but he [probably] doesn't deserve all of the hype (you agree). I say he is overrated "because" he doesn't deserve all the hype. One is a natural result of the other. At least that's the way I use the term "overrated." Maybe you have something else in mind for overrated. Once again, he doesn't deserve all of the hype and thus, he is overrated.
