They would be including him in trade rumours and mock trade scenario's for guys like Howard and Chris Paul. He's be "Linsanity x100" here.

But instead, we have idiots yapping from day one about how bad he is, about how lame the story is, about hows he's really shitty, but that each game he plays, miraculously something happens each time in which the other team manages to do something that allows Lin to do better than he might do otherwise. Or, he turns it over too much.... or his shoes are ugly, or he shakes hands stupidly (like fuck man, honestly?????)

It's beyond ridiculous really. You don't have to love the guy, or even like him, but watering down how well he's doing with BS about his shortcomings, or how he looks or what he says about who he worships in interviews is childish. its a good story, he's playing well, and last I looked he's 7-0 as a starter and his teammates seem to think he's every bit as good as the commentators and media guys covering his play of late.

Seems like a lot of bush league sour grapes to me.

I'd be way more cool with people just saying "Fuck Lin, fuck the Knicks, hope they all get herpes".

I mean at least thats normal.

preach on brotha. I can't believe someone called him out for the way he shakes hands with teammates lol.

He'll only get better as it goes along.

people hate on him for a simple reason people hate on tebow. if people would shut up about him and stop trying to force feed everyone how great he is, you wouldn't be seeing people putting him under the microscope. just look at you guys jerking each other off acting like you discovered him. it's so lame that it drives people to dislike the player because people act so stupid over him.

child please

The whole reason we started rebelling was that it was one or two nice posts then all these guys came in guns a blazing about how he was shit, or finding ways to hate on the story.

true, but this just shows you how pathetic our society is. we hate on a player not for something he's done, but something that's totally out of his control.

child?

i was here when the thread began. the only thing people were doing was saying to wait a few games before you start labelling his greatness.

i suppose that they must be haters for also recognizing how tremendous his teammates have been playing over this last little stretch of games as well.

i find it more pathetic how everyone is acting about this guy. it's not like he's playing like the best player in the league. he's playing like the 10 best point guard in the league.

well you could put the race discussion in there as well (mayweather tweet thread) plus it is the knicks. the self-proclaimed mecca of basketball that has a dominant control of viewers across the world every night in one of the biggest cities of the US. so lin was lucky to finally click into the nba system in such a popular city. would we notice lin explode in his hometown golden state or a place like detroit? probably, but not to this extent.

Let's get real.

Maybe I'm not the most religious guy around, but you still have to respect what other people want to do with their lives. He's hated because people don't have the same views as he does. We all joke around, but that's some legitimate hate. Too much attention because he's Asian hate, religion hate.

But if you go off on that on a board like this, you open the thing up to liberal use of words like "retard" for the mentally challenged, homophobic slurs, racism, etc. And if you complain about any of those, you're hypocryte. I've been ripped for speaking negatively about soccer. Soccer?

Who cares what upbringing he had. The kid can straight ball. I'm convinced.

To a degree. Depends how much they put it in your face.

I disagree. Here's why:

Mentally challenged people do NOT make a choice to be handicapped.

Gay people do NOT make a choice to be gay.

You do NOT choose your race.

You do choose to openly talk about your religion.

Now, I'm not sure if I've made any jokes about his relgion, but if I have, and you want to call me a hypocrite, then go right ahead.

I'll simply say your logic is poor. And he chooses to make his religion an issue when he openly thanks god in his interviews.

P.S.

Soccer sucks!

Meh. I think that people were going a little farther than that..... go back and read some of the comments again.

And just to be clear, no one was saying that this kid was now the best PG in the league or that he was a sure-fire all-star or MVP.... Some of us were just impressed by his bball IQ and his poise on the court. SJ nailed it when he said that there's a difference between some obscure 2-guard getting hot and drooping 40 pts one game when he gets the chance to take 28 shots and a guy who comes in and just makes the right play over and over again to make his team better.

Lin's teammates have absolutely played better over these last stretch of games... but I don't think it's a stretch to say that they probably wouldn't have been without Lin playing the point. Guys like Novak and Chandler and Jeffries got a TON of wide open looks... looks that they just weren't getting before. It's helped their confidence. Full credit to them though (esp. Novak) because if they don't make those shots maybe the Knicks don't win some of those games. It certainly hasn't ALL been Lin.... I think it's safe to say that he's been the catalyst.

As for the Tebow thing... I don't get why this bothers some people. It was a story that drew casual fans to the game... same way that it did years ago when Kurt Warner came out of nowhere to lead the Rams to a Superbowl... or when Brady did a couple of years after. People love that underdog story. It's great for pro sports. Based on what Lin and the Knicks have done over the past 7 games I'd honestly be shocked if everyone around the league WASN'T talking about him/them.

He's been pretty close to the best player in the league over these stretch of games. If he wasn't he wouldn't have won EC player of the week.

My comments about his preaching are not about me hating religion or the religious. I honestly don't see how a person of faith can be ok with someone suggesting that Jesus is influencing basketball games. If that is your idea of religion then I suppose I could be counted as hating such an idea of religion.

i don't hate him. where did i say that i hated him?

i'm sure he's a great guy, but like anyone in the media, they're subject to their exposure. just or unjust, people are going to hate on him because of a lot of reasons. race, religion, school, team, hair cut, people with three letter last names, whatever.

Hmmm..... I've honestly never taken it that way. I guess it would be different if he came out said something like "God wanted us to win that game."

Some people give thanks to their HS coaches.... some to their parents... Lin chooses to praise his faith (and his team).

You don't think his numbers (and the team's 4-0 week) merit the award?

Can you find someone else who was more deserving?

If he says that he feels like God is controling him while he is winning, that's pretty close to - if not the same as - saying God wanted him "to win the game."
