Suns would trade Nash if he asked for one

Quote:

The Suns would accommodate Steve Nash with a trade, but the former MVP has yet to express an interest in a move.

"It's really on him in terms of what he wants to do or not do," a person with knowledge of the situation said.

Nash, 37, is averaging 14.5 points and 9.9 assists.

The Suns are 9-14 and 12th in the Western Conference.

they screwed up any chance he had of winning there. and now they don't even have the balls to trade him unless they can spin it into "omg he's like CP3 and Dwight and the rest of them" for the fans.

I think it has more to do with respecting a veteran player's wishes than "spinning it' for the fans. He may actually want to finish his career in Phoenix. He supposedly likes it there. So the organization may just be waiting for him to make it clear what he wants.

ValanciunasFanboy 02-05-2012 04:25 PM

maybe. but if that's the case, it's messed up. He's not retiring after this season (I hope not -- he'd be the best retiree ever). And we aren't hearing any extension talks. All we hear is anonymous people with knowledge saying he needs to ask for a trade if he wants out this season already.
So I don't see this as a genuine case of "do you want to finish your career with us."
Granted, these sources may be bogus.

I'd guess that he'd be happy to just play out hs contract, and the Suns are worried it would make them look bad if they put business ahead of everything else, so they want to float the idea out there that a trade would at least partially be on him.

I would love it if Raps get Nash (he is Canadian so there is a slim possibility that he would conciser Raps) that way we would have a very very solid pg with extremely high basketball IQ for 2 seasons or so. We could get another pg (if not bayless) Who would learn so much from him. Not only that I think that all of our young players could learn alot from Nash
