I think he's still living in the glory days. He doesn't play D anymore, he doesn't have much of a shot, and he's just plain worn out.

This was true years ago. He does still have what he always had - a scoring knack that proves effective every once in a while.

call me crazy but i think the best way for him to close out his career with any kind of class or good impression is to come here and be a mentor for a couple years. Maybe even be part of a team that starts to show signs of contention.

I know it will never happen, but still it would make for a good story.

think about how hostile the acc has been towards vince. no way anyone could come back into a building that has showed that kind of contempt.

and there is no reason at all for this organization to want him back. if you are going to bring a vet in to mentor young players, you want someone who can help instill a strong work ethic and teach kids good habits. that's, uhhh..... not vince.

That's right. They will still have their amnesty clause to use if they so choose.

yeah i know. I just think it would make for a great ending to a rather sad career/NBA story that has been Vince Carter. the truth is I'm a forgiving person... but yeah too much hollywood and not enough reality.

I think he ends up on a team that needs to reach 85% for a short contract.

Bring back Vince... I bet he'd still win the dunk competition, could put Toronto back on the map!

TBH, since he has 4 mil guaranteed this year, I expect him to show up in either Boston or Miami for the vet min. Vince has shown that when motivated he will play and play well - he can still score at will when he chooses to. Coming off the bench for a team like Boston or Miami would benefit both imo.

As for Chi, I would love to see J.Howard end up there. That would be the best addition that Chi could make IMO - Rose, Howard, Deng, Gibson, Noah would be terrific - now if they can off load Boozer....

The Raps could pick him up, sit him on the bench, and allow sold out crowds to chant VC sucks all season long. Someone at MLSE must be considering it.

Yep.

I'd have a VERY hard time believing that he wouldn't be "pulling a Hakeem" and just making a grab for one last paycheck.

Personally, I know that if I ever saw him laughing on bench again while we were getting blown out I'd put my foot through my TV.... and I really don't want to do that.

Update on Carter. Looks like he might go to the Dallas Mavs.
