Suns Suns Discussing Trade With Grizzlies For Rudy Gay

Shitty... Wish we could get him..

The Phoenix Suns are discussing a trade for Rudy Gay with the Memphis Grizzlies, according to sources.

The Grizzlies have been shopping Gay to multiple teams around the NBA.

The Grizzlies have a strong desire to acquire Jared Dudley and a future first round pick.

Memphis has delivered trade proposals to several teams as they attempt to decrease their salary obligations for future seasons.

The Grizzlies' new front office and ownership has doubt on whether they are currently constructed to compete for a place in the Finals.

Dudley?

Well lets hope we're one of those teams they made a proposal to.

Sources tell me that a Grizzlies/PHX deal for Rudy Gay is unlikely. Not enough assets, but PHX does love Rudy. chill.

I'd much rather have Dudley myself. Yeah - kill me, but I would. Not that I hate Rudy, but I don't love his contract (hell, Phoenix can't even find salaries to match), and I do love Dudley. He'd be a really nice fit.

I like it!

But we could also do:

http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=as29g5d

Jose & Bargs 4 Gay, Wroten & Haddadi

This benefits Memphis because Jose comes off the books this year.

Its funny because with Dudley, they may be a better team than they are with Gay, plus theyd get a 1st round pick or two. MEM often gets in lulls on offence because of their lack of spacing because Rudy is mostly an ISO player who doesnt space the floor well. If you put Dudley in the mix, you have a guy who shoots 49% from the field vs 40% from Gay, and a guy who doesnt demand shots, but takes them within the flow of the offence. This will give Conley and Gasol bigger roles in the offence, which they showed they could handle while Rudy was out. Dudley isnt quite as good of a defender as Rudy when Rudy is playing hard, but hes more consistent and hes probably a better help defender.

I honestly think Dudley would be a better fit for MEM. Gasol especially needs more shots and a bigger role in the offence, and thats not going to happen with Rudy around. Theres no way he should have nights like last night where he went 3/4 from the field, let alone shooting under 10 times per game ever.

The Golden State Warriors and Memphis Grizzlies briefly discussed a trade involving Rudy Gay, according to a source.

The Warriors would only want to acquire Gay for a collection of less-desirable contract players such as Richard Jefferson or Andris Biedrins.

Jerry West is said to be high on Gay from their time together with the Grizzlies.

The Warriors remain concerned about the luxury tax and would almost certainly only acquire Gay if they could clear out significant contract commitments of their own.

I dont think Gay would fit with GSW either. They have a free flowing offence dependant on pick and pop/roll, and ball movement. Curry and Lees production would go way down with him on the team. GSW should sit on their roster and look to improve their bench and wait for Bogut to come back, not make a stupid move like this.

I don't get it too. Why would GSW break something that finally works?
Too bad MEM can't shake off small market team mentality and take a shot on a title this or next year.

These Rudy rumors are getting out of control. Leave Memphis alone, they're playing some very good basketball.
