Plus draft picks too, but does it not seem like Phoenix could potentially be getting the raw end of the deal here?

I think the Suns get the better deal. Sure Barbosa is a heckuva player, but Mags is a proven 20-point scorer (when healthy) PLUS they get a lotto pick.

Phoenix IMO wins that. They get a top ratted scorer who'll give them 22PPG and 6RPG.I don't understand why most people here really dislike Corey Maggette with his numbers!!

No one rips on Maggette. He's just really injury prone and the style of ball he plays makes him that way. He goes hard, but because of that, he gets injured a lot.

He's played alot more than JO and is alot cheaper and we wouldn't have to give up as much.Yet everyone is jumping for joy to get O'neil!! Maggette the last two season: 06-07 (75GP),07-08 (70GP)=Avg.72.5GP Oneil the last two season: 06-07 (69GP) 07-08 (42GP)= Avg.55.5 GP Last edited by jeffb; 06-24-2008 at 11:58 AM. |

I dont get this deal. PHX gets the higher pick plus the much better player for the much worse player and the lower pick. What the fuck? TJ+17>>>>>>>Barbosa and 15. |

i actually agree.
Barbosa doesnt have the 'name' that Maggette has, but in terms of skill - Barbosa is a SCORING MACHINE. true, he's benefited from being in the Suns' system, but you still cant discount his shooting and speed. Magette seems to be on the decline, whereas barbosa is getting better every year. |

Let's tkae this into consideration: Jermaine O'Neal's resume (29 years old) *6-time NBA All-Star *All-NBA Second Team (2003-04) *2-time All-NBA Third Team (2001-2002, 2002-03) This proves that when he's healthy, he can be dominant Corey Maggette's resume (28 years old) ------------------------ Not to say that Mags isn't dominant, but he's also going to be looking for a long term contract (possibly 4 years) beginning this season - at at least 10 million per year. Does that not mess up what Colangelo is trying to do for 2010? O'Neal's contract runs out in time for that. |

So, you'd rather the cap be fucked up just so we can have Mags? Big picture here. Think Bigger picture.

Sometimes guys need a change of scenery. J-O's been wanting out of time for some time. I'm not saying he wimped out like Vince did, but I wouldn't be surprised if J-O plays at least 75+ games next season.

How is he more versatile than Maggette? He can shoot the 3 and drive it on the fastbreak. He still cant pass, he still cant defend, he still cant rebound. At least with Maggette you know youre going to be getting a guy who gets to the ft line often, shoot a high %, and rebounds the ball. Both are equally dumb and pathetic on defence, but Maggette is by FAR the better offensive player. Their value isnt really close IMO, this is one of the worst moves in Clipper history if this happens especially if Maggette is expiring next year. Trading the much better player AND the much better pick is beyond stupid. Beyond Babcock. |

No but really, dumb trade if its true. I'd actually think Barbosa and the #17 for just Maggette or just the #7 would be fairly reasonable. Though considering the Suns want to go for it now, I think they'd prefer Maggette. Wouldn't be a terrible move actually. With the #7, it's highway robbery.
