Celtics The streak.

Last night Rondo tied Stockton's record for most consecutive double-digit assist games with 37.

Magic has the overall record with 46.

If he keeps it up he would have a chance to tie Magic Dec. 15th vs. SAS.... and then pass him Dec. 18th against CHI.

Wonder if he'll get it? Gotta be a lot of pressure on his teammates to make shots! Ha!

I think he gets the record. The only thing that would stop him is if he's injured early in a game.

I'd like to think he does it barring injury. More than that I say he's a darkhorse candidate for MVP if Boston can win the Atlantic.

He creates such easy baskets for his teammates and can change the pace of a game in a split second.

i'm rooting for him... hope he gets it.
rondo is amazing and deserves more credit. all you ever hear is CP, Deron, Rose, Westbrook, etc.... if i'm a coach i want Rondo on my team rather than those guys. if i'm a player i want rondo in front of those guys. this guy makes the game so much easier for his teammates.

I've said this many times... and been called "crazy" because of it.

Glad to know that I'm not the only one.

There are definitely other players at the PG spot who are more "complete" and better in a 1-on-1 scenario. But in a 5-on-5 team game? The things that he does on the floor are one of a kind (now that Nash and Kidd are past their primes).

It's one of the NBA's open secrets: Boston Celtics guard Rajon Rondo passes up layups and potential good looks for himself in order to cobble together impressive assist totals. He's fantastic enough of a player to approximate his league-leading 12.3 assists per game as it is and without the extra effort, but that still won't stop Rajon as he attempts to continue to keep his 33-game streak of double-digit assist games alive.

One of the NBA's other least-kept secrets is the fact that players are often acutely aware of where they're at regarding individual statistical hallmarks. Whether a player is going for a career-high in something, a triple-double, or a bonus-earning box score feat, NBA players young and old will purposely disrupt a game plan (or, sometimes worse, successfully lobby a head coach) in order to add a few more ticks to the ledger, irrespective of the score.

It's also a barely-guarded secret that scorekeepers in every NBA city have gotten more and more liberal with their handout of the assist over the last few decades. Sometimes it doesn't bother a scorekeeper that the player on the receiving end of an "assist" actually did all the work to create the shot he just scored on.

Sometimes, all these just about open secrets are revealed all at once. And because every team has one of those cameras handy these days, we can show you Rajon Rondo pushing the limits of good taste and the definition of an assist in these pages. Like when he and his Celtics, already down 21 points against a terrible Detroit Pistons team on Sunday, kept Rondo in for his 38th minute during his fourth game in five nights so that he could earn that final dime.

Rajon Rondo stays in a blowout Boston Celtics loss in order to keep his 10-assist game streak alive (VIDEO) | Ball Don't Lie - Yahoo! Sports

I thought this thread was going to be about the streak of games the Raptors can lose by one.

Hahahahaa... I remember that game. I have him on my fantasy team so I was tracking it and figured his streak would be broken.

A bit shady but stuff like that happens when you're chasing history.

Imagine if he suffered a serious injury playing extended minutes in a blowout while "chasing history"?

That's the risk he's taking I suppose.

On the whole he's pretty durable though so barring something like an ACL tear I couldn't see him ever sitting out for long.

Remember Jose's ridiculous play a few years ago when he was chasing ridiculous assist/turnover / low-turnover records. Dude wouldn't make an alley-oop pass if he had LeBron on the wing being guarded by Mugsy Bogues.

Would suck if he got stuck with 9 assists on his 46th game.
