Steve Kerr has accepted the head coaching position of the Golden State Warriors.

Kerr had long been expected to eventually reach a deal with the New York Knicks.

Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports reports the deal is for $25 million over five seasons.

Kerr will have a more established roster to work with as head coach of the Warriors, plus he gets to remain on the West Coast.

Kerr has been a broadcaster with TNT since leaving his post as general manager of the Phoenix Suns.

Kerr replaces Mark Jackson, who was signed in 2011 on a three-year, $6 million deal that contained a team option for a fourth year.

"We love Kerr. Incredibly prepared. We got him because of our players. The Golden State Warriors' future is bright," Joe Lacob said in a text message to Marc J. Spears of Yahoo! Sports.

The Warriors love their completely inexperienced guys. Good move for Kerr.

It's cause the Knicks wouldn't give him the 5 years, GS - great team and close to family. Certainly not a bad choice for him at all

Stupid move by Golden State. As a playoff team they should have reached out to a more experienced coach.

Smart move by Kerr to take the Warriors deal. He surely isn't worth 5yrs 25 mil as a rookie coach, but maybe it will work out for the Warriors. I agree with Jeff, the Knicks dodged a major bullet with this one.

I know Jackson wants a coach that will run the triangle, but he should really be looking for an experienced coach like JVG, Hollins, Karl, Sloan and Gentry (Though I don't say Karl would want to coach Melo again if he decides to stay).

Here's hoping that the Knicks pick a shitty coach and have another horrible season

I predict he'll be about as good of a coach as he is a broadcaster.

He was a really smart player, played for Phil Jackson and Pop for a long time, has 5 rings, been a GM and will be a good coach. Money well spent. Happy the knicks didn't get him.

MORE THREE BALLS!!!

Crazy that Kerr got all this attention all of a sudden.

And why would anyone choose the Knicks if they have an option ANYWHERE else.

It is really way to early to tell if he is going to be a good coach or not. However for the Warriors it's time to win now. It's really silly for them to sign a rookie coach with an unproven record.
I am not that confident that he is going to be a great coach tbh.
