I think he is one of the most overrated players of this era, you cant build around him, he is a cancer and not a winner, so yes, he would fit right in :P

well, we would not need to build around him as we have a solid core when they decide to play. but a rotation with him and jose would scare the hell out of a lot of teams ahead of us right now, for draft picks? i would have done it.

Great irony of him finishing his career in Canada.

F%$k him. He is a me-first crap has-been. I wish bad things to continue to happen to him. Karma is a beautch.

Default Stevie Franchise to the Grizzlies

HOUSTON (AP)—Oft-injured guard Steve Francis was traded from the Houston Rockets to the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday for a conditional second-round draft pick in 2011.

The Grizzlies also receive a second-round pick for 2009 and cash. That pick originally belonged to Memphis; it was acquired by the Rockets during last year’s draft, part of the deal that brought forward Donte Greene to Houston. Greene was later traded to Sacramento as part of the trade that brought Ron Artest to the Rockets.

The 6-foot-3 Francis has not played this season, though he remained a fan favorite from his previous stint with the team from 1999-2004. He was an All-Star three straight seasons (2002-04) and led the Rockets to the playoffs in 2004, where they lost to the Los Angeles Lakers in the first round.

The 31-year-old Francis has career averages of 18.1 points, 6.0 assists and 5.6 rebounds, but he hasn’t played a full season since 2004-05 with Orlando. He was traded to New York during the 2005-06 season and played only 38 games for the Knicks the next year because of knee and ankle injuries.

He re-signed with Houston in July 2007, but played in only 10 games during the 2007-08 season after tearing a quadriceps tendon in his right knee. He underwent surgery in February 2008 and never regained his old form. Fans still often chanted his name during home games and called radio talk shows, asking why he wasn’t playing more.
I don't even know why he isn't playing..With a line-up of
Francis
T Mac
Artest
Battier/Scola
Yao

That looks

I remember when he was a Knick. Still putting up great numbers and all, after a season he doesn't even get played.

surely someone out there is worthy of becoming a Raptors player? we can't keep passing on guys that can contribute... look at Jake! 5 rebounds in 7 minutes is more than AB can give us night in and night out. just asking the question as to whether we are missing pieces that other teams - arguably better than us - seem to be acquiring pieces we deem not good enough

He was injured too much. Was he even ready to play. He was really good back in the day but after getting traded to Orlando he started to suck

So lets get this straight, you wanted us to trade for :

A guy who hasnt played in 2-3 years, who is a walking injury, who dissed Canada on draft night, who is one of the most selfish players to ever play the game, who has maybe the worst shot selection of all time, who cant play PG properly, who cant play defence, who cant shoot, who is a malcontent and cancer in the lockerroom, and who is likely not even going to play a minute this year...

And you want this guy>?

This idea is worse than the Salmons 'confirmed' trade thread.

Every player who gets traded: LETS POST THE TOPIC AND SAY RAPS SHOULD HAVE GOTTEN THEM WITHOUT THINKING.

Francis is fucking terrible. SJ could beat him 1 on 1 right now.

No way should the Raptors have even thought about this. The guy has been a nightmare in every city he has been in and is notoriously out of shape. It's not Stevie Franchise, it's Stevie "Fast Food" Franchise.

As for Jake, seriously, can we just take it easy? Let's remember the lineup he was facing the other night...
