Default Stephon Marbury wins the (Chinese Basketball Association) championship

Quote:
It's been a remarkable turnaround. Steph can still be a little needlessly childish at times, but most were well within their rights to assume that Marbury's time in China would either go as recklessly as his time in Minnesota, New Jersey, Phoenix or New York would; or that he would flame out anonymously, as was the case during his short stint with the Boston Celtics in 2009. It isn't even as if Marbury was given a quick start to relish and keep him enthused, because his previous two CBA teams failed to make the playoffs.
Marbury clearly is aware of his station, though, and loves the country. The big minutes and shot attempts help, we're sure, but Marbury got those in Minnesota, New jersey and Phoenix and still wanted out. He's comfortable, now, with a team and a league and a culture that embraces him. And, it's interesting to note, that he can be a winner along the way.
Now back to back?

First ever championship (and finals appearance) for that team and city. Marbury's team were playing against a team that won 4 CBA championships in a row before this finals and they were going for the 5th, with NBA player Aaron Brooks leading the squad, Marbury and co. stopped that from happening. It's a true underdog story.

dang, makes it so much sweeter. Good stuff Marbury.

Good for him. Was never a huge fan of his game but it seems like he really needed this.

You could feel the emotion there near the end of the vid... I can only imagine how it would feel if the Raps ever won the NBA title. I think I'd probably shed some tears.... not even gonna lie.

I'm extremely happy for him. Always been a Marbury fan, even though he has his few problems (screw loose in the head), he loves the game and plays hard always. Really is a great underdog story and if you want to see the final game go to youtube and type in CBA 2012 Finals Game 5, all the parts are there. Great Job Stephon Marbury

Say what you will about Marbury. I know I disliked him when he was young. But this guy has gone through it. He's an individual, an outsider of sorts. He see's life his own way. Some called it crazy when he was dealing with tough times and a lot of emotions and breakdown but he kept going. He is one of the fiirst players to blow the lid of the BS Shoe business in the US where Nike and Reebok and Adidas have convinced kids that live in the progects that they are nothing unlsss they buy their $200 shoes. Marbury's Shoes cost $17 bucks and werent bad.

I like this guy now. I respect his journey.

Big Win Stephon, enjoy it

Marbury and the Beijing Ducks have now won their 3rd championship in 4 years. Congrats to every player on the Ducks. Here are highlights from their championship win yesterday

they probably wouldn't look to out of place in a top European league. Marbury looks good - quite the move and finish at 2:00 in that clip.

Yeah, I just found a site that posted the full replay of the game and I really enjoyed the ball movement by both teams. Solid game of basketball overall.
