Sixers will look to move Iguodala

You don't need a microscope to read between the lines of Andre Iguodala's postseason quotes.

If you want to be somewhere, or do something, you rarely bury the admission beneath layers of verbiage.

There's an extra pair of tickets to the Phillies game at work: First come, first served.

We'll take them.

Do you kids want to go to Disney World?

Yes!

An answer to a straightforward question is simple, but Iguodala's answer to the question, "Do you want to play for the 76ers next year?" was anything but.

Here was his first attempt: "I expect to be back in the NBA," Iguodala said after the team's season-ending loss to the Miami Heat in the NBA playoffs. "It's always been a dream of mine to play ball. This has been a great ride so far, not just with the Sixers, just playing basketball in general. I'm really looking forward to getting some rest this summer, just letting my body recuperate and get back to 100 percent, and I'm really looking forward to next year being my best year in the league."

"I think it's something I've always dreamed about, playing in the league," Iguodala said. "Once I got here, I think I've always wanted to be in one place, not having to move around a lot, being comfortable in one spot."

Iguodala never actually said he didn't want to return to the Sixers. He danced around igniting an aggressive offseason controversy, but he tossed in a cup of passive-aggressiveness for confusion.

Iguodala has not asked Sixers management for a trade, but the team will be looking to trade him this summer.

I would love him here. I don't know about his contract, but I guess it would still be worth it. All-defensive!!!!!

jeffb 05-10-2011 07:56 PM

No thanks!

45Mil/3yrs remaining on his contract.

And he's a horrible guy in the lockeroom.

Superjudge 05-10-2011 07:59 PM

Is he? What was he like when you were in the dressing room playing with him Jeffy?

WOAH, I thought it was 9-10 mill a year, so they could possibly take Caldy. :dead:

They play in the dressing room? That sounds so wrong. :cookie:

I would think they want capspace. Plus they don't need Jose.

TORaptor4Ever 05-10-2011 08:13 PM

Next 3 season:

13,531,750
14,718,250
15,904,750 (PO)

Insane isn't it.

He's overated and thinks he's better than he really is but if we could trade him for Bargs, it would be definately worth it. If we do that the only thing that needs to adressed would be C and we could get one in free agency.

js12 05-10-2011 08:40 PM

Bargnani for Igoudala is a bit arguable because Igodala's contract can harm team stability. His huge contract can make it impossible to make future deals, especially considering the new cap rules.

Don't want, don't need. With Demar emerging as an offensive stud, Iggy would either stunt Demar's development by assuming the offensive work load, or take a back seat and basically become a solid defensive specialist. We already have a decent defensive SF in JJ, who also makes A LOT less money. Stick with youth, until adding vets can take us to the elusive next level. And when I say next level, I don't mean fringe playoff contender.

We don't need this bitch. DeRozan >>>>>> Iguodala!

Well considering the contract differences, I'd rather have Weems than Andre. Pay what, like 800k for Weems? Iguodala is a bad teammate and a chucker. If Weems is re-signed and returns to form then I'd take Weems. Old weems > Andre.

regardless of contract, I'd rather have Iggy than Weems. Weems is terrible.... returning to form? This team can find mediocre SG's anywhere, and Iggy would be our best two way player instantly.

Not saying we should chase him at all costs, but I find it incredible that after all of these cries for defensive help anyone could make an argument that our players are better than a guy just named to the all defensive second team.... see any raps on there?

Sonny's 800K contract is over. Knowing Sonny, he will probably ask for at least $3 million/year.

Why? Hes a humble guy. He will take whatever they offer. If he doesn't accept i don't think anyone would sign him anyway.
