Booing at Oakland, pretty interesting

carp 03-20-2012 10:57 PM

that was brutal

Dario 03-21-2012 04:23 AM

Yeah, well atleast they care right? I rather have booing that an empty arena :D

Nick17 03-21-2012 04:54 AM

They might be angry about what they perceive to be a poor trade ........ but this wasn't the moment to vent their frustration.

Disrespectful, ignorant fans.

Toby 03-21-2012 09:14 AM

thank god they didn't hand out foam fingers before the game

Here is a great Grantland article about the nightmare of being a Warriors fan (LINK)

When would be the appropriate moment to boo the owner? How many times in a decade does the owner address the fans at a game?

Disrespectful owners deserve disrespectful fans.

bjjs 03-21-2012 10:45 AM

The owner was fucking stupid. You ignore it and move on. Instead the booing settles down and he talks about respect and visually shows his displeasure.

Shaq was right, they handled it poorly, instigating more negative reaction.

At the level you have to learn to smile and move on. Just don't react to it and get the mic to Chris Mullin as quickly as possible.

if you read the article you would have known they booed the wrong guy. this lacob guy has only been the owner since 2010. all the decades of horrible warriors basketball was because of the previous owner. lacob has been trying hard to change the culture, he's a good guy.

So you boo an owner who's been there 20 months, on a night meant to honour one of their all-time great players ....... wow, that's a harsh fanbase.

You can't fault the fanbase - they pay good money for a mediocre product. The owner should've taken it in his stride and carried on with what he had to say. He's been a an executive for the most part of his career - big mistake on his part showing his emotions like that. Guess giving a speech to an arena audience is different from giving a speech to a boardroom full of 'yes' men or employees who need their paycheques.

I agree and disagree, althougth the owner and a few others handled the situation like amateurs, it would of been nice to hear the majority of fans drown out the negativity with enthusiastic cheers once Mullin stepped up, instead the booing lingered on.

Windex 03-21-2012 03:32 PM

well Bettman gets booed every time he enters an arena

Kirby 03-21-2012 03:37 PM

what exactly did Mullins do to deserve the boos? :confused2:

The Warriors have fallen just about as far as a franchise can fall - Grantland

With all due respect, if you read that article, it's debateable as to whether Lacob is anything more than talk. From one perspective, his recent moves are just a continuation of the historic fuckups. No change; just more of the same. Put another way, same shit, same smell, different color. It's still shit.

-In 2010/11, Keith Smart increased the Warriors win total by 10 in his rookie season as a coach. Progress was being made - Lacob fired him in favour a coach with zero experience.

-From a cap perspective, the team is being sloppy with its finances. They amnestied an expiring, one year deal worth $4 mill. They should have amnestied the 3 year, 27 million contract of Biedrins.

-They trade Jackson's 2 year deal (expiring next year) for Jefferson's bloated 3 year deal. All they got out of it was a really late 1st.

Right now, they're obviously tanking, despite early season talks about turning it around as quick as possible. And they need to tank hard to keep their pick. The Warriors are basically unofficially shooting for huge losing streaks the rest of the season.

It's quite easy to see the recent moves as just a continuation of past blunders that never result in progress.

I like Bogut and Curry, and feel bad for the Warriors' fans, so I hope AB and Curry come back at least close to 90% next year and give the fans some hope. For the fans sake, I hope Lacob ends up looking like a mad genius.

That was my impression. New owner; same terrible decisions being made.

Bogut and Curry are both made of glass. Next year is going to be brutal for GSW fans.

It very well could be. I feel bad for them. And, as I said, I like both of those players, so I hope they can each play at least 70+ games.

Carlito Caliente 03-21-2012 08:47 PM

booing at retirement ceremony is kinda like someone starting a fight at a wedding...it's really too bad :sigh: The owner should be smart enough not to place the retirement ceremony so close to the trade....or he should just not make the speech at all. Didnt help when he was pausing ever so often in between.

the firing of Keith Smart was confusing, not amnestying Biedrins doesn't make sense financially, but i think at least he's trying and i'm sure he'll get better with his decisions with more experience. Bogut is injury prone, but he's also great when he's playing....and u never know a change of scenary might change his luck for all i know. I remember gerald wallace getting hurt a lot in Charlotte but is much healthier after getting out. monta is like iverson, but not as good as iverson so keeping monta is not going to get you anywhere.

Udoh was a nice piece they shouldn't have given him away...other than that i think the fans should at least give Lacob a chance to prove the trade works or not before they boo the crap out of him. maybe GSW might start winning after this trade? :confused2:

Someguy again 03-21-2012 08:52 PM

while david stern just tanks it (get it?) like a boss at draft night
