They have match-up bigs built for the playoffs.

Anthony has shown he can rise to the occasion defensively with specific responsibilities. Dampier and Z are more than adequate in certain matchups. Magloire is good for five fouls against Dwight Howard. Juwan is a vet.

Spoelstra just has to make sure they're focused once the playoffs role around.

Bosh has to step up his play to another level.

Haslem could be a real glue guy. I just don't know whether he gets a chance to be able to do that much this season.

This might be a similar situation to the Spurs over the last couple of seasons. They looked miserable with the acquisition of Jefferson and trying to tweak things for a full season. Then they solidified an understanding of roles over the off-season, and made a couple good additions, and now they look like they are over-achieving to a degree, and yet making it look easy.

Time might be the only missing ingredient, making the biggest mistake the big celebrations and claims from the get-go.

Oh yeah...Haslem.

The problem with Haslem is their is no time because of Bosh.

Which is why Bosh needs to start striving to be great out on the court instead of solid.

Haslem does solid as well or better than Bosh does.

i wonder if Bibby is regretting throwing away 7 million dollars yet.
he basically threw that money down the drain to play on a team in which he gets 10 minutes a night, gets zero stats on, and is slowly losing ground on the favorites to win the championship.
worse thing is, when he's a FA in the offseason, no team will pay him close to that 7 mill he passed on.

Yep - that's how he could be a good glue guy. He could do the solid stuff and push Bosh to do more.

It was a stupid signing.

I like Chalmers, and House is the better player as a shooter off the bench for 5-10 minutes.

They should either start him and start him now, giving him 35-40 minutes a night, or just put him at the end of the bench.

Bibby's past has everyone fooled; he's living off his past reputation.
2011 Bibby is a slow, bad defending chucker.

Arroyo can be better than Bibby if he's really fighting on D and gets in a zone. it's not something you could count on, but then there wasn't a need to play Arroyo necessarily. Can they get away with sitting Bibby? And Bibby's defense has been bad for a couple of years. It was being a little bit too hopeful that they could hide that or fix it somehow.

you made a few big points there LX.
especially with the Heat's rotations... Arroyo could be burried on the bench and you wouldnt hear a peep out of him, then out of nowhere he could be inserted after 5 dnp's and have a big impact on a game.
Bibby on the other hand will need to be given minutes just out of respect and courtesy, and will waste his 10 mins a game chucking 3's and being a defensive liability.

Arroyo has a fire in him and tenacity that Bibby does not have. Arroyo can be a very pesky defender, and is fast, which makes any lapses easier to correct.
Bibby is just plain slow, and his D is awful.

The Heat are losing because of Bosh. I don't care what anyone says... he will get torched by other teams bigs in the playoffs. KG, Boozer, Amare, etc etc are too good.

If I were Riles I'd seriously talk to ORL about doing a Lebron/D12 trade straight up.

Bosh + D12 + Wade = true dynasty... and ORL gets a re-signed Lebron for a few years with a team full of quality shooters to play off of him.

plus one but it depends on D12 agreeing to an extension im sure. and i seriously doubt miami will give up lebron this easily.

Phil Jackson strikes again

http://www.mercurynews.com/california/c ... ck_check=1

"That's what I'm trying to preach as a basketball coach, even though we have a guy that dominates the ball in Kobe (Bryant). Their basketball is very much standing with Xbox games or whatever those games are. Basketball's not a 1-on-1 game. It's a team game."

size doesn't seem to be a problem against the biggest team in the league. Not for the first half anyway.

I used to somewhat idolize PJ, but as I get older he just comes off more as a egotistical dick.

Hmmm.... wasn't Bosh supposed to be "scared" of "big, physical defenders"? Weren't these guys supposed to throw him off his game? Wasn't he supposed to fade against the best teams in the league?

What happened?

Looked ok to me against the world champs tonight.
