Bulls Should the Bulls deal Noah?

Quote:
Still, for all that Noah offers--rebounding, shot-blocking prowess and of course, his vital energy--it's clear that in an injury-plagued season, the charismatic center regressed offensively after beginning the campaign as a consistent double-double machine and borderline All-Star candidate before his 30-game absence due to thumb surgery. His inability to be a scoring threat or even finish consistently around the basket certainly hurt the Bulls in the postseason and that doesn't even take into consideration his blown assignments (a constant source of frustration to Thibodeau) on both ends of the floor; it's unfair to include his Game 3 homophobic remark toward a Miami heckler, which was certainly immature, but doesn't reflect his true character and was accounted for by the NBA to the tune of a $50,000 fine.
Quote:
At the same time, for Noah to live up to his lucrative contract extension--more of a product of the lack of available, productive true centers in the league than his statistical contributions--he must utilize the summer to develop a go-to move in the post (his left-handed jump hook is coming along, but a counter move would be nice) and master his 15-foot jumper from the elbow, at the very least, to effectively contribute to the Bulls' success, especially with Asik (in reality, already a better post defender, as are Gibson and Thomas, than the second-team NBA all-defensive team member, which explains why Thibodeau went with the rookie in the waning moments of the Heat series and turned to Thomas in Game 5) developing so rapidly. However, if he doesn't progress the way he's expected, the 26-year-old 7-footer will still be a hot commodity around the league.

That being the case, Noah is one of the few players around the league (as part of a package) who could possibly interest Orlando--if they indeed entertain any offers prior to next season's trade deadline--in a potential trade for All-Star center and three-time reigning Defensive Player of the Year Dwight Howard.

If and when the Magic realize they could lose Howard, it's hard to see them dealing him to conference rival, but with Noah being a competent positional replacement, possessing local ties ("Gator Nation" always shows their appreciation when Noah, a Florida product, is in Orlando) and making enough money to start the conversation, a preemptive strike might be preferable to the franchise than repeating history and losing Howard in free agency--to say, the Clippers, as recent scuttlebutt has it that both Howard and New Orleans Hornets All-Star point guard Chris Paul (though it wouldn't be surprising to see Oklahoma City Thunder All-Star point guard Russell Westbrook, a L.A. native and former UCLA star, have a homecoming on his mind after facing heavy scrutiny in these playoffs), desire pairing up with Rookie of the Year Blake Griffin in the shadows of Hollywood--as happened when Shaquille O'Neal split Disney World for Disneyland and the Lakers way back when.
Sam: Where do the Bulls go from here?

You can't go from Noah to Bargnani bro lol It just doesn't work like that.

Rose would be in utter shock of the difference.

Why not, start Asik and Bargnani comes off the bench @ the PF/C positions for scoring, and they add Barbosa at the 2 off the bench. They then sign Prince who can score in the starting lineup and can play D. The only thing is, they don't need Amir.

Rose/Pargo
Bogans/Barbosa
Prince/Brewer
Boozer/Gibson
Asik/Bargs

And they can move Korver/Pick for added depth, a new backup PG or starting SG?

At 25, I don't think Bargnani would appreciate coming off the bench at this point of his career. He probably still thinks he has the skills to become an all-star or a star on a team. Especially if Asik gets it over him.

Who gives a fuck what he thinks. He'd still get around 30min and have a chance to win a championship. Is this gonna happen.....no. But i don't think it's that far fetched. Certainly though, they can do better. Maybe give them Bayless instead of Amir.

Jeff, the main point is that you don't start breaking up the starting lineup on a 60 win team, unless you're getting back something that is almost certain to improve the team.

Deng and Noah are big parts of what the Bulls do on defense. Trading for Bargs, Bayless, and Barbosa or Amir (or whomever else you include) changes the indentity of the team too much.

If you trade Noah and Deng, you better be getting back someone like Howard. It's gotta be a proven upgrade, not a "maybe this could work".

Dwight Howard for Noah and Deng. Hmm....

Think Orlando would take it? I would have to think long and hard about it if I was Otis, especially if Howard wants out.

No, I'm talking in theory, and just from Chicago's perspective. I'm not saying Orlando would actively be pursuing that trade.

If I was Orlando, I would only trade Howard if he said he was going to leave, like what happened with Melo. You know, refusing to sign an extension.

Once I knew Howard wanted out, I would then try to work a deal that also offloaded Gilbert Arenas. Gilbert's contract fucks Orlando right now. So, if I was Orlando, I'd probably be looking to trade with the Lakers before I'd contact the Bulls. It's easier to dump Gilbert on the Lakers, since L.A. has the salary to send back and make the deal work, while also offering some assets.

Well it's already out there that they might pursue a Howard trade this summer and that Howard would like to test free agency.

This. ^^

The Bulls would be stupid to get rid of Noah for anything less.

Now Boozer.... HE's a guy that they could stand to trade depending what they got back.... wouldn't be easy to move him though....

Who cares what he appreciates, i think if he gets traded the team that takes him is going to use him off the bench. Chicago could actually use a player like Bargs. Despite all his critisim, he can create his own shot and he'll strech the floor, which is especially good cause he's a big man, meaning they can't clog up the paint to gaurd rose. Rose can then reak absolute havoc on offense, but considering Thibs coaching style Bargs will be riding the pine hard for much of the season if he doesn't step up his D. If we can somehow get Noah for Bargs (obviously not just Bargs) we should do it, but ya no where in hell we're getting Deng too, lets be realistic.

DK, you just traded away 60% of the Bulls starting lineup!

If that went down, the Bulls better attract one heck of a SF via the use of the MLE.
