Should Boston look to rebuild/retool?

Quote:

With the Celtics struggling to begin the 11-12 season, several teams have inquired about the availability of Paul Pierce.

One Eastern Conference official said, there are “lots of calls asking if [Boston] will blow it up.”

Pierce has two years and $32 million left on his contract through the 13-14 season. Trading Pierce would allow the Celtics to become players in free agency.

remember before the season started ray allen was all touchy touchy david west chose pacers. he chose money over a ring wah wah wah. well hows that working out so far?
and yes, i hate boston...

Pierce would be the last player they would trade. 32 Million dollars or not. I guarantee he's a Celtic for life.

But they should blow that team up unfortunatley. UNLESS they get an actual SOLID center and not a, as much as I used to love him, washed up waiting to collapse Jermaine O'Neal. Their bench isn't as good as it used to be anymore either.

box92 01-17-2012 05:16 PM

not this year, they don't need a good pick :)

edki 01-17-2012 05:17 PM

they should stop wearing down Rondo. he's their only guy to build around next year...
Pierce will retire as Celtic. KG and Allen contracts expire this summer - they should be very competitive on the free agents market

Chiggmo 01-17-2012 05:42 PM

No wonder they suck, their entire team is 40+ except Rondo... (yes I know they're not really 40 ffs)

Ainge has slowly been dismantling the team, making lateral moves at best.

Perkins... Big Baby... even Nate... these guys were all major contributors and fit in to their scheme.

You can see that both Allen and KG slowing down.

What a lot of people don't know(and I'm assuming is true) is that Perkins wasn't willing to sign a contract extenstion that Ainge was offering during the season because it was much too little money(according to Perkins). Perkins was off the books that summer and Ainge didn't want to lose him for nothing. It wasn't to "shake" things up.

How is Ray slowing down? He keeps himself in great shape and is having huge numbers. Seems like his shooting percentages keeps getting better as the years go on. Almost like a Nash type.

KG looks like a thin brittle old man.

unfortunately, yes... they need to look in the mirror and realize that they wont win anymore. their prob is that teams around them are getting better, and they are getting worse (and older).
they made the mistake of trading away perkins and tried to make lateral moves that blew up in their face.
they need a young big C.... like they had in Perkins, ironically.

they should get kwame

NBA Draft Bust Kwame Brown Takes Credit For Lakers Center Andrew Bynum's Success | ThePostGame

"That was my young fella," Brown bragged of Bynum. "I taught him everything he knows. ... I'm one of the better defenders in the league and we played against each other every day in practice. I told him if you can score against me, you can score on anyone."

Dario 01-17-2012 07:38 PM

Yes, they're getting old. I say keep Rondo and get some young athletic talent, Green was a huge loss for them

Kwame is a clown, this is hilarious, I wonder what Bynum's reaction is.

Dario 01-17-2012 08:07 PM

Kwame's an allstar, whatchu talkin about?:bosh:

DVS 01-17-2012 08:10 PM

KG looks so old this year :(

Windex 01-17-2012 10:23 PM

Then Ainge should have paid. Simple. You don't let one of the best defensive C's in the game go. You just don't. Esp when he's the heart and soul of your D .

Ray has had some good games.... but he's also had quite a few where he's been near invisible. He is in great shape though. No doubt about that.

Sounds like Rondo.

How did celtics manage to get a crap load of cash? did they sign their use to be big three to minor deals 4-5years?
