Question Should Big Ben be a Hall of Famer?

Well, his resume is pretty impressive. He won NBA Defensive Player of the Year 4 times, 4 time All-Star, 6 time All-Defensive Team, 5 Time All-NBA, and was a key component to Detroits championship run in 2004. He was very good in Detroit, but since he was traded, his production has seen a downfall, which kind of leaves me on the bubble. Do you think Big Ben should be a Hall of Famer once he is eligable?

He wasn't consistent enough throughout his career. Even if he was consistent it would still be a 50/50 because his offensive game is limited.

No.

Simply because he didn't do it over an extended period of time. His time in Washington was listless and he was about to leave the league until Orlando and Doc gave him shot. Getting traded for Grant Hill saved his career. Being surrounded by the culture they created with the acquisitions of Chauncey and Rip were just as key to Ben winning DPOY as anything else.

Once he signed with Chicago (still at a prime in his career) his entire game declined. Mutombo did it over an extended period of time, therefore far more impressive of a record.

No way. He doesn't deserve to be in there. Sure he had some good season defensively but that's it. He was shit on offence. One dimensional players are not allowed in the HOF

Really gurk?

What about guys who were great offensively but mediocre to below average defensively?

Steve Nash is a great offensive player but brutal defensively. However, people have him as a lock for the HoF. So, isn't Nash one dimensional? Therefore he shouldn' be considered.

I just went through the list of players who are currently in the hall of fame and now I think Ben Wallace is light years away from the HOF. In order to be eligible for the Hall of Fame you have to be retired for 6 years and I think Wallace's name will be forgotten behind the likes of Shaq, Kobe, Duncan etc..

nope... never.
he was a defensive master for about 5 years... but thats it. he was a big piece of a really good team, but nothing more. unfortunately, the detroit system made him a star, we all see how he fared out of that system. he was pretty much a no body... not even close to the same calibre player he was while in detroit.
seeing him play now is painful, he's a total liability on the court and he's pretty much a shell of his former self.
5 really good defensive years does not make a player HOF worthy...

He was very good for 5-6 years, but beyond that he hit a wall. He's been a non factor since he hit 30. I say, no way.

Well, do you guys think Marcus Camby deserves to be in the hall? His game is similar to Big Ben's. All defense, no offense.

Moreso then Ben Wallace imo. He's shown alot more longevity and consistency then Big Ben. Like i said Ben hit a wall @ 30yrs old, unlike Marcus Camby.

Well, I wouldn't say Camby has no Offense. For a center his offensive is quite decent. He developed a nice mid range jumper and his passing is very good for a center.

Camby has been a stat player the last few years rather than a winning player, but that also goes with the teams hes been on. The last year he was a true beast was the year the Nuggets lost to the Twolves in the playoffs, the year KG finally got out of the 1st rd. After that DEN went into the tank as a whole and Camby wasnt the same kind of player.

People are going to say no because he never could score. His name should be on a ballot and let the voters take it from there. I'm on the fence.

It wouldn't bother me that he's one-dimensional. He just hasn't shown enough greatness overall. The basketball Hall sets a pretty high bar. You average out his career and it's not worthy, as good as he was for a few years.
