Cavs Shaq to Cavs?

Shaquille O'Neal playing with LeBron James next season has not gone beyond the preliminary stages and no deal is imminent, two executives with knowledge of the discussions told ESPN The Magazine's Chris Broussard.

The clubs have not spoken within the past few days, but sources say talks of a possible trade involving O'Neal, Ben Wallace and Sasha Pavlovic never completely died after it was first discussed in February.

O'Neal, 37, will make $20 million next season in the final year of his current deal, while Wallace will make $14 million in the last year of his contract and Pavlovic $4.9 million with only $1.5 million guaranteed.

The salary swap is close enough to make the trade work under the salary-cap guidelines, and the Suns would save $10 million in the transaction -- $4.5 million in salary and $5.5 million in luxury-tax payments.

They could save even more money if Wallace takes a buyout, a possibility that was raised when Wallace said he was considering retirement after the Cavs' Eastern Conference finals loss to the Orlando Magic.

Was JUST signing on to post this. You've defeated me.

Imagine a motivated Shaq with Lebron James on a revenge tour. Heads up league.

LOL obviously Cleveland. If this match-up were to happen this year, I would say La but now I hate them for beating down on the underdogs in Orlando

Itd be interesting but CLE's defence would be shattered and theyd become middle of the pack in that regard. But it could help take some pressure off Lebron which could ultimately propel them to a title.

I think they should be looking for a younger PF like Millsap and try and fill out their bench. Or just go deep into the trading market and see if theres a scoring bigman not named Boozer available.

Highly doubt Cleveland's defense will be shattered by getting an actual paint banger center. Remember how "little" Z was getting his ass handed to him in the paint ALL PLAYOFFS.

still I must agree about cleveland should try to get someone yuunger.

I'd prefer him as a team over Kobe anyday.
Atleast his no on the radio blasting his team mates and demanding trades.

Plus Lebron isn't hog.
It wasn't until 2 years ago that he stopped passing up the ball in crunch time.

Have you seen Shaq defend screen roll? Even if you miss youre going to get the offensive rebound if you dont have a soft frontcourt. He half shows, then doesnt contest, then doesnt block out. And now that hes old he pays for it.
