the kobe hate in this thread boggles the mind. stupid basketball players that don't understand how to win, don't win five championships. or make one finals appearance, let alone seven. i don't care if he played with jesus christ, it just doesn't happen.

right now he isn't getting jack shit from his teammates. ron artest is playing like an asshole, bynum is shaky at best, gasol is exhausted from shouldering the load while bynum is out and against boston reverted to playing like a bitch again.

I`m not sure if you were around during the Jordan days, but for those who were, most say MJ was much better.
Fact: MJ`s worse FG% during a season was better than Kobe`s best FG% during his career.
Also, when Kobe score 30+ it his team becomes more prone to losing. While, when MJ drops similar numbers his team is more prone to a W.
Also, you say an 8th ring would stamp it? I don`t think so. When Kobe got his first three rings, he was a sidekick. That was Shaq`s team.
Honestly, put any decent 2-guard next to shaq during his prime and he`ll get you a ring.
So, IMO, Kobe will never be in the likes of MJ. A top 50 player? Yes. In MJ`s league? Never.

I always say the Lakers suck - it's nice when their owner backs me up.

So what you're saying is that it doesn't matter how well Kobe plays if his teammates play like garbage?

Thank you.... makes my defense of Bosh much easier to understand.

Kobe is a stupid bball player AT TIMES. He's obviously very good.... but he falls into the same trap that MJ did back in the day... he always thinks that the answer is to shoot the ball more.

Kobe loses his trust in his teammates much quicker than MJ

except kobe regularly elevates the level of his teammates. Bosh rarely did, if ever.

also, you can't honestly tell me that when the raps were struggling CB didn't take it upon himself to buck up a couple more shots here and there. why else do you have a go-to guy?

IF he does that he does it by going off 1-on-1 and taking umpteen shots/gm.

Why are the Lakers thinking about trades if Kobe can "elevate the level of his teammates"? Why would they be struggling at all with an all-star big man and guys like Blake and Barnes who were added this season to lessen the load.

The double-standard that exists here is actually pretty funny.

it also doesn't help that he hogs the ball most of the time. jackson talked about this a while back. bball is a team game and no one person can beat you single handily, if kobe tries to get his teammates going first before himself maybe they can win more games.
his team is playing like shit but taking 25-30 shots a night also contributes to this. regardless, they will win and lose as a team. kobe is a great player but unless he puts up 81 consistently a night he better look for his teammates.

btw i believe jesus would help him win 10+ titles

RE: bolded. Doesn't make sense does it?

there's no double-standard, kobe's guys aren't producing. i if you watch laker games as often as i'll do you'd know that kobe is doing as good a job as ever of trying to get his guys involved. The team just hasn't been producing, and it's baffling given the talent level.

he spent essentially the whole first half of both games against boston and houston feeding the post to get gasol and bynum going. you saw how gasol played against boston - soft. he was put in positions to succeed and he didn't produce; chalk it up to exhaustion or whatever, but he hasn't been pau gasol. bynum isn't where the team needs him to be. ron artest is well...ron artest - essentially a negative on the floor most nights. derek fisher is still the worst starting point guard in the league. right now, kobe can't do much to change all that, or so it seems. granted, lamar odom has been playing out of his mind but at this point he and kobe are the only ones bringing it consistently.

i dunno man, i think you need to start watching some lakers games start to finish. the fourth quarter doesn't tell the whole story.

That's bullshit had u seen some of Kobe's number in the playoffs with shaq?
1st year 21.1
2nd year 29.4 (Shaq averaged only ONE more point then Kobe did tht year)
3rd year 26.6

which "decent" shooting gaurd puts up that? put players like OJ Mayo next to shaq? wouldn't of happened... I don't care what shaq, or any other person says Shaq NEEDED Kobe for those three tittle runs. You can say he was his "sidekick" but I see it more of a "duo" (maybe not the first year)...

exhaustion is the biggest reason why gasol's performance is going downhill fast, just because he has to pickup the slack with the injured bynum and a rookie big man in character. it a domino effect, we can see it anywhere. when one of the biggest contributors of the offense is overworked like pau gasol (olympics in the summer, 39 minutes per game, etc.) the load is brought on the players hard and fast, therefore the laker breakdown.

Why is Kobe's jersey so baggy? Dude looks like a slob. Seriously, am I the only one who notices this? It irks me.
