i mean for real, i know u all think kobe should get it, but Lebron is more valuable to that crappy team then Kobe is to the Lakers, if you put the lakers sans Kobe in the east i bet they would still be a playoff team, i think if you took James away from the Cav's they would be one of the worst teams in the league. Not to mention he averages more pts, boards, assists then kobe and is doing more with less. CP3 is nice too, but the King should get it

Lebron will get it. Stern's been manufacturing another great one like he did with Jordan for a while now.

I wonder if the MVP award comes with a free set of nail clippers, so I don't have to see him biting his fingernails on National TV anymore.

Lebron has to move it up a notch to beat the 26-36 Chicago Bulls.

Kobe has to gear up to beat the 39-21 Dallas Mavs.

You dont see the difference?

your quote kinda contradicts itself...
you mention that kobe has a much better team around him, and that lebron's team is shit... then you go on to say that lebron puts up better numbers.

well ya, kobe has better players with him... lebron has doodoo around him, its pretty obvious lebron will put up better numbers, right?

lebron has the ball in his hands at least 75% of the game... whereas kobe has it for about 50%.

i'm not a kobe fan, but its quite easy to see why lebron should be putting up greater numbers than bryant.
a great player makes the players around him better.. and can put up strong numbers on a strong team.
i give that player more respect than a player who puts up big numbers on a weak team when he's the only option on the floor.

I'm not voting for a ban, but can we bar pimpery from talking about Lebron or the Cavs? Can't we just ignore them because they're the most boring team to watch in this decade?

no that would be the spurs and the pistons by far.

As for Lebron not making ppl better like Kobe does? I think the most glaring difference in there games is passing, Lebron is a much better passer then Kobe and averages two more dimes a game then him.

i agree, i think lebron is the better passer.
but again, he runs the offense moreso than kobe does.. again the whole 75% arguement.

wow, i never met some1 that thinks kobe is a better passer guess 1st for everything Lebron has great court vision and later in his career with a true number 2 scorer he will be a triple double machine.

No way. The Spurs and Pistons may run down the shot clock but at least they move the ball and make the defence react with quick consequtive passes for the open shot. CLE just runs ISO or pick and roll for Lebron everyplay and he dribbles the air out of it until he shoots it or passes it late in the shot clock for a forced shot. Ball movement>>>>>>>>isolation. I'd much rather watch Detroit and SA play over CLE, it's not even close. If the Cavs were any fun to watch the ratings for the Finals would have been high regardless of who they played, but everyone either doesnt care or hates them because they play like we played with KO but with a better star. It's not even basketball, its terrible.

Kobe deserves the MVP award 100% this year.
You cannot possibly say that the Lakers are a playoff team without Kobe.
That is nonsense.

What team did Gasol come from? Was it the Grizzlies? Yes yes I do think so. And what place were the Grizzlies in before Gasol got traded? They were a horrible team. Yet Gasol had "arguably" better pieces (Gay/Miller) around him than Kobe did in LA before Gasol arrived in Los Angeles. So what makes you think that the Lakers would still be a playoff team without Kobe? Gasol is NOT a primary star, but he is the perfect secondary star.

Do you understand what I'm trying to get at? Kobe makes Gasol a much better , and more effective player than he would be without Kobe. Kobe makes players like Bynum, Farmar, Fisher, Vujacic, better players than they actually are. It might not show by his assist numbers, but remember that the Lakers run a triangle offense. If Lebron played in the triangle offense, I guarantee you that he won't average the same amount of assists as he does right now.

The triangle offense is much more different than the Iso's run for Lebron in Cleveland.

The "Lebron iso's" that are run give Lebron the chance to face his man 1 vs. 1. He has the option of shooting, driving, and passing. He runs the show. He is nearly impossible to stop 1 vs 1, so that is when he scores. When defenses collapse on Lebron, he simply kicks it out to the open man, who drains the shot, and he records an assist. That is Cleveland's whole offense.

In LA it is different, because the triangle offense doesn't allow Kobe to 'rack' up the same number of assists as Lebron does.

Remember, last year, they were regarded as an NBDL team without Kobe. They were a much worse team than the current Cavaliers. Yet Kobe made it into the post-season with a respectable record in the WESTERN CONFERENCE. He had SMUSH PARKER and KWAME BROWN starting alongside him! Shouldn't Kobe have won MVP last year and the year before because his team was so shit?

Now that players like Bynum, Vujacic, Farmar, etc. have ALL stepped up their games this season, and with the addition of Pau Gasol, guess what? The Lakers are the best team in the league! "But no, Kobe does not deserve MVP this season because his team is "too good"". Kobe finally has the pieces to win, and he is WINNING!! The number one criteria for an MVP is if he is able to WIN, which is what it all comes down to. Kobe is able to WIN. Lebron's team would not be in the post-season if he was in the Western conference, simple as that.

The NBAs philosophy has been give it to the best player on a top 2 seed... In this case, I also think the best player on the best team just so happens to be the best or second best player in the league, so you really can't take it from him.

Paul is the only one who comes close IMO, but he's young, under the radar, and NO has been losing lately.

Kobe's due. Give him it.

I would be willing to give the MVP award to Paul before I give it to Lebron.
But Kobe definitely #1, he is due, and skill/talent-wise, he is the best player in the game, and one of the best in the HISTORY of the game.

IMO, not only he arguably deserves it, I agree that lebron and kobe are good candidates, but kobe has never won it, so that gives him more points to win it this year.

I still think Lebron has to WIN GAMES first, before he even gets any recognition.
What good is an MVP if he can't win your team games? It doesn't matter how BAD the team is. Kobe has had the worst supporting cast surrounding him the last 3 years, and was he an MVP in any of those years? Nope. Did he do better with that supporting cast than what Lebron is doing now with his supporting cast? Yep.

i agree kobe and lebron will be candidates, but throw CP in the race too, cause what he's doing in New Orleans is damn good.

i just have a problem with giving an award to a guy who does it all on his own rather than playing a 'team' oriented game.
its all 'give the ball to lebron' wooohoooo.
its so crap IMO.
kobe plays with a great squad and still continues to dominate.. he makes his teamates better and its fun watching LA play.
Cleveland on the other hand is the worst ball on earth to watch. seeing one guy do everything... its boring as hell.
he doesnt make his teamates better, he just provides them with open shots... theres nothing worse then seeing Damon Jones hit a wide open 3 from a Lebron double team pass, and then Jones strut off like he's the shit....
its one guy, and its boring as hell.

umm sorry, but i remember Lebron taking his team to the finals... so NO, WRONG, Lebron did better.

And i said "the lakers would be a playoff team in the EAST without Kobe" and i stand by that statement, and that the Cav's couldnt make the playoffs in the east without LeBron.

He cant win his team games? What did he do last year, what he is doing this year? Am i blind? Do the Cav's not have the best record in the east since jan 1st and are looking primed to make a run for 3rd seed? Your talking like they are in last place or something. Cav's last year were about as good as Kobes lakers team the last few years, except, they went to the finals, Kobe has never won anything without the most dominant big man of this era by his side, who went on to help another talented wing player win a championship, who happened to have very little NBA experience. So it could be argued those rings were more Shaq then Kobe. But thats not really my point here. Dont act like Lebron isnt even close to Kobe, i can understand ppl saying Kobe should get it, he is great, im just giving u the reasons i think the King should. How did he do better then LeBron with that supporting cast when LeBron went to the finals and Kobe has never even been to the conference finals without Shaq?
