Default Seattle Supersonics coming back?

Quote:
The only thing stopping the Sacramento Kings from a sale and move to Seattle is approval by NBA owners.

The Maloof family has agreed to sell the Kings to a Seattle group led by investor Chris Hansen, the league confirmed in a statement Monday morning. The deal is still pending a vote by the NBA Board of Governors.

A person familiar with the decision said that Hansen's group will buy 65 per cent of the franchise, which is valued at a total price of $525 million US, and move the team to Seattle and restore the SuperSonics name. The deal will cost the Hansen group a little more than $340 million. The Maloofs will have no stake in the team.

That and the Mayor of Sactown, good ol' former NBA All Star Kevin Johnson, is hoping to make a counter offer to the League Offices.

I was reading somewhere that Kevin Johnson may have a couple tricks up his sleeve to keep the team in Sacramento.

If this goes through though I think you're talking about the Maloofs as one of the worst ownership groups ever in sports. I'd feel horrible for Kings fans.

I feel like if the Kings leave Sacramento, the NBA will be lobbying for a team to return to Sac-Town in a few years ala Seattle. Why not move a team like the Grizzlies?

Awesome. Finally, I can go watch a live game eventually. Haven't seen a regular season game since 2006.

Toby, will you ditch your Blazers for the Sonics if they're better?

I would ship them out.
Getting all this support after you've ran the team (regardless of how well) there for a while would kinda be a kick in the face.
I'd do it for spite lol.

Crap. I wish they would hurry up and move to Seattle. I would love to take the ferry over to Seattle to catch some games.

Now there's a deal for a new arena in Sacramento and it looks like the NBA is going to decide on the Supersonics' fate on April 18th.

There used to be a ton of BC fans show up at Sonics games. That is another city that wants an NBA team. New stadium always raises Stern's eyebrow.
