Seattle announces plan for a new arena

The Seattle Bobcats and the Seattle Coyotes... :mischief:

A San Francisco businessman has unveiled a proposal to pay for a new sports arena in Seattle, plus the cost of acquiring an NBA franchise to be the anchor tenant for the facility.

Christopher Hansen’s proposal, which includes $290 million in private investments, was unveiled Thursday afternoon at Seattle City Hall.

According to a letter submitted by the Seattle native to the city, the remaining construction and development costs would be financed by the city and King County. That money would come from taxes and revenues generated by the new facility and rent charged to the teams playing in the arena. City officials are adamant that there will be no new public taxes needed for the building.

Hansen’s letter also says he will find a partner to bring in an NHL franchise.

no chance on the nfl team. no tailgate party = no football.

I can see it happening sooner or later. Not sure though it will be Charlotte Bobcats. Atlanta Hawks most likely or Sacramento Kings (if they don't move to Las Vegas)

Hornets and Coyotes. Get er done

Charlotte has tiny crowds. So does Detroit. NBA might have to cut 2 teams, then move a couple. I find it difficult seeing the 50-50 BRI Lockout bullshit saving the future of some of these crapper teams.

Is that coming before or after his Subway system promise?

Personally I find spending public money for arenas being used by sports teams is something that shouldn't be done in this day and age. If they want to build an arena go ahead build it.

Well just don't use public money and I don't really care. They could ignore using that part.
